Please let me know if ethernet will be present so I can make the decision which Amigas to bring as I need to pack them up in advance on sunday evening as Monday is a normal work day.

Looking forward to it!

Catcha,
Epsilon

Hi Epsilon,

At this stage I can report that there is a very good chance (85%) that there will be internet in the form of ethernet available.

There are three options that we are working on:

1. Having a mobile modem that has an ethernet port;

2. Connecting to the internet port in the current room (internet is currently not working and will probably be fixed tomorrow);

3. Having a relatively long ethernet cable that can run from your computer/port into another room where a working modem is present.

We believe that there is a long cable present that you can use, however you may wish to bring one along just in case.

Kind regards,
George

ok, thanks for this update. Having the ethernet will make a difference to what I can demonstrate. How long does the "long cable" need to be? 5m, 10m?

Catcha,
Epsilon

I reckon the safest bet would be 15m.  You could probably get away with 10m, but that may mean setting up closer to the door.

20m would be the absolute maximum.

Cheers and looking forward to seeing your system,

George

Thank you everyone for attending and for making the night a success!  Lots of positive feedback was received with great enthusiasm of having another event later in the year.

Also a big thank you for all those systems that were brought in, both the classic and next gen.

Great to see that the Amiga scene is still thriving with plenty of new features, updates and technology still being released!  Would love to get hold of one of the new systems :)

Great blog post and pics Epsilon!  Thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

I do have a few pics that I took myself.  Basically the same as the one's in the blog post so I won't repeat them all here :)

Cheers,
George

@MelbourneBen - Happy to host another event soon.

What does everyone think?

Also - are there any comments/suggestions/improvements etc. that anyone wishes to add in regards to the former event?

Look forward to hearing from everyone.

Best Wishes,

George

@MelbourneBen
- Everything should be alright on my end regarding the organisation of the event.
- Of course, feel free to bring any refreshments if you want.  We will supply them in any case :-)
- Sounds great that the others will attend again!

- Will keep you all informed of the progress and post a date soon!

- Hopefully moderation will allow an edit to the first post and title :)

Given the success of our former get-together, another Amiga event is being hosted here in Adelaide on 25 May 2015.   This is on a Monday night which will coincide with the Adelaide  Amiga/Computer user group that is held weekly in the same venue.

Summary:

When: 25 May 2015, 7:30pm start

Where:
Clarence Park Community Centre
72-74 East Ave
Black Forest, SA

[I have attached a photograph of what the venue looks like just so people  do not confuse the building with the other community centre next door.

There is car park spacing available around the back of this building and you can enter it on the left hand side.]

What will occur:

Attendees are encouraged to bring their Amiga rigs (or other relevant systems)  along and set them up in the large conference room.  This will hopefully  create some topics of discussion and/or demonstration amongst everyone.

While there are ample power-points available in the room, you may wish to bring any power-boards or other connectors to make sure that your systems are appropriately connected.

If you require internet access, then please specify if you require an Ethernet or Wifi connection.

We will also provide coffee/tea and other refreshments to the attendees.

Regards to everyone,

George

@Epsilon

- Great that you can make it again!

- Yes, sure we could have the title as "Adelaide Amiga 30 Event" - Amazing that the Amiga has been around for so long!

- Yes, that suggestion of having all the Amiga's set up sounds good!  Hopefully we can attract some of the rarer models such as the 500+, 600 and of course the 4000!

@Haranguer

- Great that you are also making it again!

Cheers,

George

To everyone viewing this thread I wish to make the following announcement.

A new website has been launched for the Adelaide Amiga User Group.  The link for this site is as follows:

http://adelaideamiga.blogspot.com.au/

This website features an interactive blog as well as information regarding the current meeting arrangements and main events held throughout the year.

Credit for this site goes to Epsilon, a fellow South Australian and a very active Amiga enthusiast, who conceived the idea of having a site and put it into effect.

Kind regards,

George

Thank you to everyone who attended.  It was truly a wonderful evening and a great way to interact with everyone.

A new blog post has been made with plenty of photo's from the event:

We are going to hold another one of these events later this year in September.  Date will be finalised soon.

To those who were unable to make it, we look forward to seeing you later this year!

In the meantime, enjoy using your Amigas ! :cool:
