Having the OS4 jewel in the Operating Sytem Crown along with the other beauties would be real nice.

I'm a bit worried about the dongle thingie - hope it will neither be a required change in the motherboard design (for a single OS?) nor a dongle occupying  a whole USB slot.

Any changes in the dongle policy?

As to the Blizzard version - can we take it as a promise? :-)

@takemehomegrandma

Porting OS4 is just not going to be worth it for a market worth 600 units.... i'm sure Ben will correct me if i'm wrong.

Besides, you know whats going to happen now... Genesi will start trumpeting that the Peg2 is going to run OS4 (from this point on) , with no agreement (apart from a comment on irc) and IMHO little likelyhood of this happening....

I'm not saying it wont happen, I just think it's unlikely.

Another stumbling block just might be the idiots in the monkey house (AInc)...

IIRC they don't like Genesi too much.

That would be ideal.

I heard before that the licence fee AInc wanted was certainly not acceptable, ergo no OS4 on Pegasos. Has this really changed so suddenly?

It doesn't really matter what you have heard, since if you didn't inquire directly at Amiga, the information is pretty irrelevant. Probably the rumour mill will have squezed the actual numbers in any desired direction.

I'm not saying your are wrong or right, because I don't know the details either.

(See also my reply to Kenny R)

No idea. My information is that there should be something that prevents/separates those boards that actually have a licence from thost that don't.

It's (a always) a promise that we'll try. We want a Blizzard version. The only real hold-up would be the issues I mentioned before - the non-standard hardware support. There has to be a certain amount of supported hardware - we're not going to sell it if it doesn't support at least a basic set of hardware to make it usable.

Slapping a sticker on it saying "does not support your IDE harddrive" isn't an option, really.

i wonder if the peg2 version is possible because Amiga Inc doesnt seem to be going to well, and if they fold, then maybe the restrictions on AmigaOS hardware will fold with them? (although amigaos may also fold too)...

i wonder if we can get a peg2 then maybe even an iMac or PowerMac?'

@Rooney

Running it on a G5 Mac would be very tasty indeed, if a little expensive... I'm sure this has been done to death in previous threads, but apart from the obvious (Apple), what would prohibit such a port?

Ben?

My memory cheating me, or there was a photo back in a few years depicting Ben Hermans and the Shark in his hand? Or I am confusing him with someone else?

I agree, but the chances of getting a definite  response on this matter straight from the horse's mouth are next to nil. Even if AInc ever replied such tricky questions, they are well within their rights as a private company not to make such figures public anyway.

@Warface

Sure it was (Cologne 2001 if I'm not mistaken),but that does not mean
that Ben had kept the card......

It was also quite clearly a rebadged Sonnet-Card, without AGP,USB or
even a HD-controller .....

The "current" Shark is supposed to be based on MAI's Mirkoserver.

Since we're straying away a little from OS4 on BPPC...

Rogue:  Are you/Hyperion's programmers concentrating all efforts on OS4?  Or are you'all also continuing on games programming?   Are you'all planning on doing any games programming for the Pegasos system?

and now.....back to your regularly scheduled programming...

No, back in Blighty now......

Yeah, I know it's all about the future... whichever one that will be.

Neverthless, it's nice to see more solidartity in the community (on both sides) than was apparent last year. Can only be a good thing.

OS4 for pegasos what a BRILLIANT idea.

Genesi gets OS4.....they also get Amiga DE when it integrates into OS4.....which solves the current court case....and provides a common platform for developers to write software for both platforms, the Amiga community is no longer split into a red and blue camp and a unified effort to push the amiga into the next generation commences!

WHat a great solution...so where is the hangup?

Oh...thats right, Genesi dont want to pay for the AmigaOne license.
