AmiWest 2002 Show Report!
« on: July 31, 2002, 06:58:56 AM »
Larry Anderson has been kind enough to provide the world a show report from the recent AmiWest 2002 fair in Sacramento, CA/USA. The report comes complete with photos (including the Amiga Limousine).

Although the report focuses on the Commodore One computer system, it should still be of interest to any avid Amiga user. Report author Anderson is a well known name in the Commodore 64/128 community, as well as a frequent poster to the comp.sys.cbm USENET newsgroup.

That woul be terrible, but I think it is the scenario we can expect.

I think the C=1 project seems like a good alternative for microsystems instead of eg the Siemens 80c535 system.. And the C=1 can do a lot. really cool :-)

Oh man, oh no, this is rich, haha, tell me I didnt just see a suped up c64!  Will some one please tell me what the use of this hardware is for, as I refuse to think that any one would waste their money on this hack job.  Whats next, making a Coleco Adam run on a AMD XP2200, oh waite, no its making a Atari 400 with a AGP slot
There was a time I can remember computers were fun...I miss my A1200.

It does have pictures of a female red-headed hardware engineer though.

Perhaps the author thought that was more important to document than any announcements regarding Amiga?  ;-)

Its a hobbyists computer not something that is for the mainstream.

Some people say such things about the Amiga, so I would expect you to be little more understanding.

Hack job? Waste money? For your information that was a beta board and it is NO hack job. The final board will be produced by Individual Comuters(Amiga hardware producer), will include tons of new features(like IDE), atx form factor and is targetting $200 for retail. If you actually did your homework you'd see this "hack job" is actually more powerfull overall than an A500/600/1000/2000 and probably A1200 out of the box. Damn cheap for a hobbiest computer!

Listen, the C64 is the #1 selling computer of all time. To this day the C64 has a cult following arguably bigger than the core group of Amigans in our community. It has a monthly glossy magazine in multiple languages with worldwide distribution. In alot of ways the C64 community is far healthier than the Amiga community.

Listen to yourself! That sounds foolish. People outside the Amiga community usually would readily ridicule YOU for having an interest in the Amiga. Think about it. They are not making the CommodoreOne hoping to go back into the mainstream, they are making it for the hobbiest to have a cool toy to play with. Up until the CommodoreOne, C128/64 users had to pay mindnumbing prices top upgrade their computers. A 20Mhz accelerator cost ~$350. A HD controller cost $500+! Compare that to what this is offering.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Now that I think about it peoplesupposedly INSIDE the Amiga community ridicule you for using an Amiga. Pretty sad.

The C=1 looks like a great thing. I would love it to give it a try. And the price is ok too.

Yeah and really cute ones (atleast 1 of them), but ......

 :-x  :-x
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else
