OT: Crow T. Robot for sale
« on: March 12, 2007, 12:11:02 AM »
I've gotten a few comments about Mystery Science Theater 3000 lately because of my awesome icon guy. :-) He's not an Amiga, but he is a Cybernetic Remotely Operated Woman, so that's close. (MST3K inside joke, sorta)

Anyhoo, I have one for sale because of the same reason I'm so keen to sell off lots of Amiga stuff lately. I put him up on craigslist.

People seem to disappear when I tell them how much I'm hoping to get, so just email me through that craigslist post with an offer. If someone offers near what I really want, they can have all my left over bot building parts and make more Crow's for themselves. Or, at least, lots of torsos. :-)

Shipping will be in two boxes. To the USA, the total seems like it would be something like $60. I don't know about international because I don't know how much this guy really weighs.

edit: Listed on ebay.

Um, what's the reason? That 60 minutes story about how MST3K was really made on an *Atari* ? :)

:-P

They had an Amiga in the office and they reference Amiga on the show a couple of times. In the Outlaw episode, they did a host-segment presentation and said they used a Video Toaster to do it. So, hey, more stuff that makes my post closer to being on-topic! ;-)

I'm selling my stuff because it's better to be owned by someone who's gonna use it rather than being in a closet waiting for me to pull it out and look at it... dreaming of the day when I can have a vast Amiga empire... or something.

That one episode with the horrible deep sea movie with the
line "Hey, I got the Amiga working" made my girlfriend at
the time fall out of her chair laughing since I spent so
much time working on mine...

Someone mentions it over on another thread. I thought that was a cool line, too. Any Amiga reference anywhere is cool. :-D

One episode (I'm thinking a Godzilla movie) the episode kicked off with Tom and Crow arguing about mac versus PC.  Joel whispers conspiratorially at the camera that it is just a "matter of personal nuance" as to which OS is better and tries to inject a little variation in the argument and says "Say...has anyone seen the mouse for my Amiga?" - at which both Crow and Servo begin to laugh derisively :D

Another showed a blockhouse with a yellow stripe near the vision slit and one of 'em quipped "Hey, it's a giant video toaster"

Finally, one featured a P-in-P type shot which servo attributed to "The magic of the Video Toaster"...
Back away from the EU-SSR!

We could gather all the Amiga references and submit a list of them to the "ward e" section of the MST3K website.

No, it's not the one pictured in the AO gallery. That one's from an MST3K fanmade video riffing on the Doctor Who episode Time and the Rani. I designed the website for it. :-) Beware of pop-ups, though. :-( Angelfire isn't so great. It has hypnoheliostaticstasis, for sure.
