Sounds like another "Commodore" badged PC to me  Don't get too excited - it's just a Windows box.

Sigh. Here we go again...
Main A1200D: WB3.0, 3.1 ROMs, 2GB HDD, Blizzard 1230IV (64MB RAM + FPU) and a whole load of custom heatsinks... :flame:

It may be a linux box with C64 emulation too. Like what the Wii is setup as: new + old. If it plays classic C64 titles and lets me hook up an old-school joystick, I'd be interested.

Big deal. You can do that now with any PC, which is all this hardware will be.

You can use atari/amiga joysticks on a pc, and it'll translate properly to a C64 emulator?

Yes. There are several options for interfaces which will allow Amiga/Atari joysticks to work on a PC.

People will not fall for this. It's just regular Windoze PC after all.

Don't get fooled, this has absolutely nothing to do with original Commodore.

I don't mind at all if these are just Commodore rebadged PCs.  The new Commodore owners need to re-build the brand and raise some cash for further development.  Remember a few years ago they began selling re-badged Chinese MP3 players under the eVIC and iPET names?  This raised enough money for them to actually do some R&D to create the C64-DTV and the "Gravel" series of media players.

So hopefully they will strengthen the brand with this PC type release, which will allow them to release more innovative, original products in the future.

I must say, they are at least excercising good industrial design.  Their "Gravel" and some of their MP3 players and their web-site are stylish, at least.

Many companies try to ride the name of commodore, it began with escom's attempt. But there is now new under the sun, So people will not buy these things too. These companies fail at the point, when the products need some little plus to market, and they simply don't add anything.

People fell for those new 'Acorn' Windoze PCs a little while back, I'm sure plenty of people will fall for this; just read the comments below the article - people gushing about their memories of the 80s, some even mentioning Amiga, not realising this lot don't even own the Amiga brand.

All the righteous indignation the community can/will summon over this won't mean squat to the owners of the c= brand, All the RiscOS folks got very angry and vocal about the 'Acorn' laptops but they're still in business while no new RiscPCs are being made.

Anyway - what would people really expect from a continuation of c= anyway? They don't have the Amiga brand anymore and the 8bits, well what exactly can you do with them except toys like the DTV? Obviously there are things like the superCPU, hard disks and various other third party mods which effectively pimps out your C64/128 to near ST/Amiga levels but no serious company are gonna build a computer around a decade and a half old 16bit extension of the 65xx processor last used in the SNES.
