I have no clue how the work moral was within their company. All I know is thay they made some kick ass games and conversions. 'Batman', 'Pang', 'Jungle Strike', 'Lost Patrol', 'Platoon' and more
Then there was 'Chase HQ'. Not their finest hour, ha, ha. Overall I am very impressed with their titles. However, am I the only one who feels that way?

All my girlfriends loved Ocean Beach Volleyball. They were as good at it as I was.

Loved the game, but loved the intro and theme song even more!

ZOMG that game is awesome! lots of fun with friends playing that. I thought the other ocean titles were crap though lol
Cinemaware, Pysgnosis, Lucas arts,Melbourne house, those were good houses

OCEAN for me were the earlier Spectrum and Commodore 64 titles, while they had some cheesy software - they more than made up for it with some absolutely cracking titles!
I have had the most fortunate pleasure of actually meeting Gary Bracey at the first GEEK event in Margate. A truly wonderful fellow!
Ocean published so many titles even working with Team17 and Aklaim, however my favourite Ocean made games for the Amiga are -
Arkanoid: Revenge of Doh
Batman: The Movie
RoboCop
Ivanhoe
Operation Wolf / Thunderbolt
Pang
Snow Bros.
Toki
(Please note that some of these titles were developed by Ocean France)
However my one true love is the small game they published on the C64 - Wizball =)

Aside from many of the games already mentioned i also liked, The New Zealand Story, Rainbow Islands and Parasol Stars.

Weren't most of the cutesy arcade platformers ported by Ocean France?
They seemed a lot more capable than their British counterparts IMO.

Renegade. That is all ;)

Robocop 3, which was one of the first real 3D games I ever played.
-
Ocean released Jurassic Park which had - for the Amiga - groundbreaking FPS play.

Although the shadows are pretty much right up at your feet, it prevents the FPS section from being nothing but a shooting gallery; also, note the non-orthagonal walls.
I salute Ocean for bringing an FPS to the Amiga when no other commercial efforts were out there, and most people were saying it couldn't be done.

The first association I have with Ocean is "crappy movie/TV tie-ins"..

Renegade the arcade game? That was released under the Imagine label and later on hit squad. Ok, so both of those were owned by ocean :-)
Most ocean/imagine games were really good.
System 3 released alot of nice games too.

I now work with one of the guys from Ocean, Stephen Hey, who was about during the period that game was released. I'm envious as I was still in university at the time and yet he doesn't see much fuss in his working (in sales) for one of the great classic software developers.
Then again the company we work for now is probably seen by the teens today as ground breaking/classic of the future.

My bad! Renegade, of Chaos Engine fame :D Or you could say Bitmap Brothers.

I tracked down a copy of the game for DOS and ran it in a virtual machine (doesn't run well in DOSBox)...the PC version...well, hell, the Amiga version too...were pretty groundbreaking. The DOS version had fine graphics and non-orthagonal walls before Doom, plus look up/down before anyone else (including the awesome Ultima Underworld and System Shock). Sadly the FPS parts were hindered by poor controls - you could mouse around, but no mouselook, and moving forward required pushing the mouse, moving it back, and pushing it forward again (or using bound keys).
Tell your co-worker at least one retro-game fan appreciates their hard work on making a decent game, and trying their damnedest to make a palatable port of it for the Amiga, too!

For me Pang was king. I'm not normally a fan of those types of side to side games but i adored that game. There was always that sense of "just one more go".
