Good god. I sure hope that guy checked the weather report before he laid all that out!.
-
I'm speechless.
-
I wonder if the Mrs had something to do with the sale hehehe
-
Wowsers... :D
Thats gotta be the biggest ever single sale of items I've ever seen on eBay (gonna keep those pics... they're neat), either that guy has a very big house or furniture didn't play a part in the decor... :)
Just hope he got all that wonderful stuff back inside before it started to rain... :)
Be interesting to follow that one... :)
@ SpiHunter
Thought you'd left us... Glad to see you're back... :D

It is about 300km away from me. Tempting to get the credit card out but that simply won't fit in a two bedroom unit. Lol

And once I saw Australia the first thing I thought of is the BABE Cammy...
Please tell me you aren't selling all of your equipment!
LOL

It's like something out of Hoarding: Buried Alive show... :-)
It looks kewl.

Yea, I was kind of an ass when I left. I suprised they un-banned me.
I should say I'm sorry sometime here. ;)
-
Just the size of the whole thing numbs you. Too bad I'm not in the area, it would make a good human interest story for my YouTube channel. Damascus Road conversions always make good subjects.
Hope the winner has at least a dozen friends.
-
Someone notify Amibay - he's clearly selling it all for too much.

Ha!

This is one of those rare posts that makes me feel normal, yay! But then again, at least he/she is selling their stuff.

My Gawd Man! Keep in yur pants! :roflmao:

Amazing collection!
-
Beautiful bunch of retro goodness. :)
-
Holy crap! There's "collection" and then there's "COLLECTION!"
-
That is pretty epic.
I would wager it could easily fetch 4 times as much if it was parcelled out, but I can understand if the guy doesn't want to spend the time on that.
-
That is...Friggin awesome! :)
If I ever got that much retro goodness, I would probably die before I could test them all =(..
-
OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so want this if only i can sneak it under the wife's nose...
and like the man said you can always hire a removalist....
Your not going to see something like that in a hurry.
-
Merely a 970km round trip for me to pickup...no worse than going to the pub for us Aussies  Nah, I'm cleaning out my crap...why would I want to undo all my hard work...
-
OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so want this if only i can sneak it under the wife's nose...
I doubt you'd still have a wife afterward! She'd see you pull up with the load, and instantly imagine the piles of yellowed 80's consoles stacked up in the bedroom, while you chain smoke through a hideous moustache, playing SNES all day in your briefs...

Except for smoking and moustache your almost right.. :D
hmmm time for new wife???? LOL (thank God she even looks on these forums otherwise i am a dead duck! :D)
-
Oh, look what else he has! I had one of those yellow Galaxy Invader 1000 games!

Quite a few interesting items in there. There's a Toshiba machine which looks familiar. I just hope I had the good sense one day to do what this guy is doing and not leave it to my family to clear out in an estate sale :D
-

Collecting != good sense... LOL
i would never sell i would hope (and i started training them) my kids would still love to use my collection themselves.

Ha I got the same problem, well 1) Can't afford it, 2) Can't collect it 3) the wife may kill me it I bought it anyway!
But that is some sweet ass stuff!
There is a 128 there too!!! Why is it all the rare stuff is so expensive ( did I just say that?? ;)) 128, CDTV, A1000, A3000 are gaps in my collection.....and sell on ebay for about £100 each ;(
-
He should take a month off work and sell these items individually. He'd get a crazy amount of money.
-
Wow! This would make a wonderful addition to Frankos Commodore museum. I wonder how much the shipping would cost? Even better, Franko the slimey bugger could just move into one of those arcade cases. Franko doesn't need a house. No really he doesn't! :roflmao:

It has gone from around 200 views to 5432 views in less than 24 hours!

On 27-Apr-11 at 18:44:54 AEST, seller added the following information:
Hi everyone and thanks for viewing my listing.
I have noticed that this listing has made it's way onto a whole heap of websites around the world which is very flattering but I am now starting to realize that perhaps it was not a very good move on my part to advertise like this. The listing has generated a bit of heat around some forums and due to the amount of views and the high res photo's, it is chewing up my web hosting bandwidth (the pics are hosted on my own site external to ebay)
I'd like the buyer to be happy with their purchase and I have not described the collection to a very good standard at all, some systems don't work some do - some are in great condition, some are not etc...
With that said, I have decided to drop the listing for now and decide how best to go about doing this again.
My apologies for any inconvenience.
Lastly, thankyou for all the kind comments people have emailed through.
......oops!!!!! Did I start the forums off?????????? lol

I was going to buy it. Damn. The only difficulty would be renting a truck for a month and traveling to his place and back (roughly 30,000 kms).
-
That is an amazing collection!
Has anyone managed to save the pictures I wanted to show them to a friend of mine...

Sorry, I linked it to a Sci Fi forum to use in a debate on collecting. You had a bunch of Doctor Who fans drooling all over it too. :)
If I was you I'd break it up into different lots. I'm sure you'll make more money that way and you can even ship some of the smaller items in order to reach a larger audience.
Good luck.

You did notice Dentunes is not the seller but merely quoted the message the seller ended the auction with?
-
I don't think the seller quite grasped the concept of selling on eBay. More exposure = more views = more bids = more money.
Ending the auction because it is being viewed too much?? It's like cancelling a TV show because it has too many viewers.

According to the seller:
"The listing has generated a bit of heat around some forums and due to the amount of views and the high res photo's, it is chewing up my web hosting bandwidth (the pics are hosted on my own site external to ebay)"
Maybe its costing too much? I don't know - doesn't make any sense to me either. With the money you'd get, should easily pay for any oversight :D

Hell. The money he would have made would easily cover the few days it was posted! Plus, why go to all the trouble to put all your material out on the lawn, and risk your neck climbing up on your roof in order to photograph it, just to pull out because a lot of people are looking at the pictures! Silly.
-
The guy had to withdraw the sale for the simple reason he ran out of monthly bandwith on his server and the pics could no longer be displayed... :)
He should have uploaded them to PhotoBucket or somewhere like that where it wouldn't have affected his broadband allowance... :)
Don't think he thought it was going to get the attention it did though... :)
-
Can someone upload those pictures again? I can't find them anywhere... I missed it ARGHH!
-
Definitely wasn't my listing. If it was mine I would sell it all separately and, as another poster said, take a month off. There would have been more than enough money in that bunch to warrant it.
-

I'll post them onto my MobileMe site when I get home. They are pretty big pictures so i won't keep them there long.
-

I would like copies of these aswell.

Times like this I'm glad I'm poor.

I have uploaded the pics to mo MobileMe Gallery. You can see them at:

@ Dentunes
Thanx for that, I meant to download them myself but was too late... :)
Now I can save them forever to marvel at... :)
Still say those pics are friggin awsome... :D

No probs. I don't think we will see something like this again for a long time.

Interesting Indeed

LOL looks like he took the photo from the roof.
And no it's not Cammy I think she's up in northern NSW.
Besides I'm sure she'd let us Classic Amiga lovers know on the improbable off chance she was selling her Amiga's.

He mentioned that he did take it from the roof and it still didn't fit in one photo.

Now !! where is that cartridge with pacman, must be here somewhere..
And I thought that I was a retro junkie NOT!!! hehehe..

Geez. You stare at the damn thing, and you still can't believe it. I wonder how many hours it took him to arrange all that?

...And after thinking it may be Cammy, my SECOND thought was how friggin long did it take him to arrange all that stuff outside? Once again GOOD LORD
-
I have twice as much stuff as that, just as rare, wonder how much I would get.

But hiring the helicopter to get that shot, whew! Gotta spend money to make money! Uh, some guy with money once said.

thanks for the pics:)
-
If you could connect all those computers together I wonder how powerful the resulting machine would be? Probably not a patch on a semi-modern mobile phone even. Funny how fast technology has moved on and how we all take it for granted.
-
Wow Thanks for reposting the pics. I can't believe it. I will defenatly be saving these to show my wife every time she thinks I have too much crap.
-
@Claw22000
It's none of my business really, so feel free to ignore me if you like, but from a few things youve said in recent times I cant help but get the impression youre only recently married ?
You tend to speak of your wife fondly. Surely that's a sign of only recently having been married ? :)
-
Jealous, That he's still in the honeymoon phase and getting some... :)
Though the pictures... Great Googly Moogly! I'd need a whole other house.

Still drooling over these pics....this is like my fantasy......it is Retro Porn!!! WHOOP!!!!!! I'm so excited all six of my nipples are tingling!
-
Nothing unless you post pictures of it on your lawn and eBay it. :)
The weather in the UK is not reliable enough :P
I was talking about this with a friend and he said would take 3 sessions to display the whole lot in the garden but would help.

Hey just for the record, yesterday was my 10 year wedding anniversary and I am still enamored with my wife... I am the luckiest guy in the world and I KNOW it... You will never hear me talk about my wife in any manner other than fondly...
-
You have to put things in perspective a bit, most of what he is displaying is software. I mean look how much room an A500 takes up in the photo... I have 35 x A500 Amigas etc... and hundreds of boxes of Software and thens there's the other Amigas and masses of addons too...
He can have all the consoles and cartridges he likes but I'm one up on him because my entire collection would be Amiga only... LOL
I wouldn't even bother putting out the commodore museum pieces I brought a few years back just for the Amiga bits :p I've got about 20 odd printers from the ice age...
anyway, enough tit for tat :-)
Perhaps he should have just put up a buy now and then it might of ended before cutting into bandwidth lol

I'd been thinking about that for the past couple of days and your right, before the wife made me get rid of over 4000 boxed games years ago (never had a lot of computers or consoles, about 18 max at one time) but if I were to have layed out all those old boxed software I'm pretty sure it would have looked like those pics or bigger... :)
Still those pics are impressive none the less and at least the guy went to all that bother to do it... :)

The dude states that it took him 25 years to come up with his business card design. Well, it tells me one thing about his getting results, that they come very slow. Heck, it took him 25 years to figure out a business card.:roflmao:

I would need a football pitch to lay all my stuff out. At times I seemed to be collecting in one go as much as that guy is selling , and I was given the stuff so cost me nothing. Maybe I'll put mine up for sale if it generates that much interest. Could do with getting my house back. Can't recall the last time I saw it...
Just as an example this is what I was 'given' last time I went on my travels...
http://www.commodore-amiga-retro.com/amiga/amiga_scuzz52f.htm
The guy contacted me and wanted all this added to my collection. Certainly not the only time it had happened.
-
Scuzz, if you ever sell off your collection, my wife will be glad we live on opposite sides of the Atlantic! :) Not that it would stop my from paying shipping, but kicking up local PSU's / 240->110V tranformers pal->NTSC adapters (To work with NTSC flatscreens instead of bulky CRTs that don't care) would be a bit much. lol

Chris:whack:

No doubt i will get slammed for saying this but i've never seen so much junk in all my life :roflmao:
Most of those games would be on whdload and the amiga's are looking old and yellowed
Anybody have any idea how much it sold for?!
