Could someone point me of a game besides microcosm that used the akiko chip?.
The cd32 is an a1200 with that chip`, and nearly all cd32 catalog was available on the 1200.

I personally believe the CDTV to be a piece of crap, unless you add a ton of upgrades.
But in favour, i must say it is the most sexy looking Amiga of all. I still remember to this day, that poster (was it a poster?) where it stood along with the black floppy drive, black keyboard and of course, a black monitor. It looked really stunning!

A500 promo or cdtv promo?  lol
The CDTV was a nice looking computer. I could have gotten one in Germany but passed it up. I guess it was a good idea after all. Maybe I could add it to my collection by the end of the year.
Do you think the CD32 was better, but not better looking?

The CD32 at that time was not bad looking, just not so gorgeous.
And yes, the CD32 is far better though not better looking.

One thing i regret still, is that very few accelerators were developed for the CD32. I would have bought a CD32 if it had a 68040 accelerator available, instead of an Amiga 1200.

Well there was the SX32 Pro, very rear and dear but it had a 68030 running at 50
Mhz, mmu, fpu with up to 64mb fast ram supported you would of notice very little performance different with a 68040 inside unless you got a top end version of them

@AmigaNG
You are wrong :)
The slowest 68040, at 25 mhz is twice as fast as the 68030 at 50 mhz!
I would notice a huge difference!

This technology has to be viewed on the context of the period. There was a lot of interest at the time in expanding the home entertainment value of computers to a wider less informed audience. The CDTV idea was way ahead of its time and suffered because of that. The technology was just not advanced enough. But like many things this was a journey to somewhere else, so for those that love their Commodore kit you can be proud of being part of that history. It is a shame that some choose to make comment in ignorance of the historical significance of all Commodore products.

I will say that my CDTVs are my least used of my machines though compared to other machines of that period the CDTV is a fine peice of kit. And please don`t use the N word ... :-)

You know, I have been lusting after one of those black floppies for a long time.  I recall the beige model was the 1011, what is the model of the black drive?  I really cannot explain why I want one.  That and a black keyboard.  *sigh*

Vinyl dye works amazingly well, too - like it came that way from the factory.

Have you actually used it on something before? If so, you should post some pics please  :)

Well I had a 68030 running at 40Mhz, then moved on to a 68040 at 28Mhz and I only notice a very slight increase in speed, that the only reason I'm saying it.

Not on any Amiga gear, but plenty of plastic and it works fantastic. No runs, no dust inclusions, no unevenness, just a perfectly dyed surface.

I may try this on an extra A3000 bezel (turd yellow edition), the only problem is replicating the logo.

I've painted lots of Amigas, Commodore 64s and car interiors (lots) with Vinyl Dye. It's the best thing you can get in a can, just make sure it's a good brand like VHT.

Here's an A1200 - http://www.amiga.org/gallery/images/2061/1_RebelsA1200.jpg

Some floppy drives for you... I do like the black one with my CDTVs. The beige one maybe the 1060 by the way not sure... My 1011 is white.
