save2600 - this is kind of hindsight, but he posts every few days over on EAB. I just sent him a  PM to help clarify the instructions. i'll see if he replies over on that site.

if I can get better info, I might give it a shot.

Thanks, I may be willing to re-invest in another unit if I was confident the damn thing actually worked. lol  EAB... I have an account - but for some reason, never seem to find my way there.

er...  not to hijack the thread.
I had intended to build an A1000 with the 1.3 ROM adaptor for a disk based game machine. Well, priorities have changed and I need to sell off some of my projects. No time, interest or $ to complete.
A1000 (slightly yellowed) w/keyboard and mouse, Spirit Technology Inboard1000 ram expansion w/1.5 mg ram, 1.3 rom, DJBase rom adapter, external 1010.
Will consider any offers over $175 plus shipping. Continental US only.

What's this method? Please write the link if exist, or write the method.

I have seen this method, very problematic and impossible to use in my a1000 with Phase5 accellerator.

It's a program called TwinKick and it's excellent, although I haven't tried it with a hard drive to boot OS3.1 yet:

> Maybe the 3.1 chip needed to be jumpered/pin isolated like is done on Rev 5 A500 boards? Seems like the adapter should handle that, but who knows.

I have connected pin 1 with pin 31, as kickstart 3.1 instruction for the A500 rev 3 and rev. 5, but the A1000 no boot, this is not the resolution.

This is very well :-) but if is possible I mount a very kickstart 3.1 on A1000.

Yep, on a Rev. 6 mobo - those directions are either full of shit OR you need to do the A500 (rev. 5) Kickstart thing and lift/solder pins.

Personally, I think the directions are full of shit. You do NOT cut the traces where the 'X' is on that ASCII schematic. The machine simply will not boot, even after you reverse what you've done. That "schematic" assumes there's already a jumper between the pads - which there wasn't on my machine. W1-W4 as pictured in the destructions, was how my A1000 natively was.!

The traces are on the back of the board, the rev 6 is similar to A1000 with piggyboard, not is a very problem to cut two traces and add a two 3pin for w1-w4 and select what connection use, and the kickstart adapter go very well with this istructions, but only with the 1.2 1.3 and 2.04 kickstart, no working with 3.1 kickstart :-(

Right. So... has anyone here successfully used DJBases adapter with Kickstart 3.1 yet?

LOL, I have followed some confusing hardware instructions before so I thought this was going to be an easy one to understand, I am going back to read it a third time now :)

ok, so now I read it again, you need to cut where there is an X marked and solder a resistor. Seems almost foolproof to be honest, I dont have an A1000 myself though, plenty of A500 though :)

Fool-proof. Yeah. Good luck with that and let us know how you fare on a real A1000.

The question is real simple and has yet to be answered:

Do you cut the screened circuit board trace that exists in between the solder pads? Cause that didn't work on my machine. Or do you NOT cut the jumper that doesn't really exist, but should be there, according to the directions that is the 'X' in between the solder pads? lol

On two of my Revision 6 mobo's, in regards to W1, etc. There were NO jumpers between those 6 pads. Only screened circuit board traces run through them. All other instructions like this assume there is a silver trace to be cut in between the pads. Those did not exist on my machines and no... no one had modded them before I got to 'em either. I'd be able to discern that.
