Anyone interested in a DPaint "alike" program for the PC or Mac should check out Mirage
here - It's a bang up-to-date version of NewTek's Aura which was in turn a reworking of the Amiga's TVPaint 24-bit painting program. TVPaint was very similar in methodology to Deluxe Paint and Mirage even has animbrushes! TVPaint for the Amiga is available as a free download
here and is still a great app (for gfx card users only though).
