Amigans on tour
« on: April 08, 2004, 04:40:39 PM »
With it being the Easter bank holiday and everyone is going away, I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself that I'm not - although, to be fair, having just returned from 3 weeks in New Zealand I don't have much room to complain.

Anyway, I was thinking - wouldn't it be great if we got a bunch of Amigans together and went on holiday?  Perhaps for a week, or 2 weeks, in a mutually agreeable country (preferably a hot country) we could holiday, drink, shout obsenities at the Bill of your choice, and generally do tourist-type things.

I'm don't mean doing it next week, maybe in 6-12 months time so everyone has plenty notice to get financial stuff, time off work, etc, sorted out.

Is anyone interested?  It'd be great fun if we got like 20 people up for it...

I dunno... probably be a lot of shouting at each other.  We'd have to have the Red's and Blue's in seperate hotels to prevent fight breakouts.

And I'm a nancy-boy, I can't fight.  I just fall down and cry, so I don't know if this would be my idea of a vacation.
Maybe I could just stay in my hotel room and  :pint:

I think that would be a great idea.  Like a mini-convention where everyone could come together and meet everyone else.  I also like the warm area idea.  Of course the logistics might be a bit of a nightmare.

By the way, how was New Zealand? :-)

Its a good idea, but I recommend perhaps meeting first (if all in same country) at a pub to get to know one another. I wouldnt like to get stuck in the same hotel as axe-wielding anti-os4 pegasos fan :-P

Normal pegasos fans are ok.

How about a cruise? First sign of any problems the crew can skuttle the ship taking all life boats with them.

Actually, having a meeting among All AMiga/Peg/WinUAE/AROS/whatever users is a good idea because - as i suspect - almost ALL of you fellas are "nancy-boys" and no one will be fighting at all!
:roflmao:

drinking, on the other hand, is a more likely activity!

 :pint:

except for those who are non-drinkers. but everyone will be too busy having fun to fight anyway!

Well I think the response is a bit disappointing - but there are still at least 3 or 4 of us that are up for it?

I was thinking of maybe Italy?

How about Orange, France?  When I toured France and Italy a couple years ago, the bartender at the hotel we stayed at was very nice to us "ugly americans," and poured strong drink.  And that's important, I tell you   :-D

Also, there is a roman ampetheater there for shows.  When we were there, there was a performer who is (according to our tour guide) the "John Tesh" of France.  It wasn't a very good show, so we left early.  As we exited, we were called, by the singer, "ugly americans."    :roflmao: "Tasteful" is more like it.

Or how about Venice?  We could put one red and one blue troll in a gondola and have them serenaded

By the way, "frapa" is an evil, evil drink.  :-D

Yeah, France sounds good to me.

We need to think about a date too... maybe this summer is too soon for everyone (is it?)?  What about September 2004?

Excellent, I've alway wanted to go to New Zealand.

France, Italy - It doesn't matter to me as I've never been to either. :-)

I guess it's time for me to start saving my pennies.
