Payback on 030?
« on: November 10, 2013, 06:42:55 PM »
Hello all, I gave up trying to play Payback on 030 Amiga long ago, since it is unplayable. But I remember somewhere someone wrote that you should shrink the game window to get it runnable, never found any setting of button or option in any configs to do so.

Gave it another try today but still the same, it's insane that the minimum requirements are 020, 16MB RAM on AGA since it runs along the lines of 3 fps at my 030.

So I joust thought ill make a thread asking if anyone ever got it runable on less then a 040, and if how?

I really want to play that game some day :)

Yeah, I too tried on my A1200 listed below... no way! Not sure how to run it in a window either. I would give it another go if it would run somewhat decent in a window.
A500: 2MB Chip, 8MB Fast, IndiECS, MiniMegi, IDE4ZorroII on Z-500, KS1.3/KS3.1, WB3.1&BWB

A2000HD: 2MB Chip, 128MB Fast, P5:Blizz 2060@50MHz, PCD-50B/4GBCF, XSurf100, RapidRoad, IndiECS, Matze RTG, MiniMegi, CD-RW, SunRize AD516, WB3.9

A1200: 2MB Chip, 64MB Fast, 4GBCF, GVP Typhoon 030 @40MHz w/FPU, Subway USB, EasyNet Ethernet, Indi AGA MKI, FastATA MK-IV, Internal Slim CD/DVD-RW, WB3.5

Correct me if I am wrong it has been many years since I played Payback but I think you can run it in a window on RTG amiga.

I may be mistaken, but I believe changing the game window size was +/-.

Me to, I would give it a go as long as runable even if a small window, id play on a bigger screen to compensate ;)

I don't have a RTC card, but when saying window I do not mean Windows mode, I ment shrinking the view area as in most Amiga FPS games.

Ive tried that without luck, bit I am sure ive read trough the years that it should be possible somehow :S

It runs ok on my 060 in low rez so I wouldn't want to try it with anything slower.
