"Ocean" gaming company was awesome, what do you think?
« on: May 01, 2013, 03:15:48 AM »
I have no clue how the work moral was within their company. All I know is thay they made some kick ass games and conversions. 'Batman', 'Pang', 'Jungle Strike', 'Lost Patrol', 'Platoon' and more

Then there was 'Chase HQ'. Not their finest hour, ha, ha. Overall I am very impressed with their titles. However, am I the only one who feels that way?

Loved the game, but loved the intro and theme song even more!

OCEAN for me were the earlier Spectrum and Commodore 64 titles,  while they had some cheesy software - they more than made up for it with some absolutely cracking titles!

I have had the most fortunate pleasure of actually meeting Gary Bracey at the first GEEK event in Margate.  A truly wonderful fellow!

Ocean published so many titles even working with Team17 and Aklaim, however my favourite Ocean made games for the Amiga are -

   Arkanoid: Revenge of Doh
Batman: The Movie
RoboCop
Ivanhoe
Operation Wolf / Thunderbolt
Pang
Snow Bros.
Toki
(Please note that some of these titles were developed by Ocean France)

However my one true love is the small game they published on the C64 - Wizball =)

Weren't most of the cutesy arcade platformers ported by Ocean France?
They seemed a lot more capable than their British counterparts IMO.

Ocean released Jurassic Park which had - for the Amiga - groundbreaking FPS play.

Although the shadows are pretty much right up at your feet, it prevents the FPS section from being nothing but a shooting gallery; also, note the non-orthagonal walls.

I salute Ocean for bringing an FPS to the Amiga when no other commercial efforts were out there, and most people were saying it couldn't be done.
Back away from the EU-SSR!

The first association I have with Ocean is "crappy movie/TV tie-ins"..

Renegade the arcade game? That was released under the Imagine label and later on hit squad. Ok, so both of those were owned by ocean :-)

Most ocean/imagine games were really good.

System 3 released alot of nice games too.
