AOne, SUse Linux 7.3, Internet Connection
« on: January 08, 2003, 09:23:45 AM »
Hi,

I am trying to connect to the internet using my Aone, Suse Linux 7.3,
and an external modem. the ISP account is with freeserve with the
settings nicked from a PC.

Currently I can get the modem to dial out, it starts communicating
with the modem on the other end, but then ppp fails with the error:

peer did not authenticate itself

Anyone know what settings I have to change to get this to work?

My plan, when i get this to work, is to surf/IRC/email using UAE!

Cheers

Hello
Perhaps you can use Wvdial, KPPP, or other dialer program. Make sure to set the correct user name, password, DNS (Domain Name Server), "Use Default Gateway" setting etc.

Perhaps your ISP need a special dialing script or special login protocol (CHAP, PAP, MS-CHAP etc).
