At the end of the day it's what people are willing to spend. Yes it's stupid how people are like "ZOMFG IT'S AN A4000!!!! UBER ULTRA RARE!!! BIDDDDDD!!!". It's the buyers problem really.

Just a shame you can't enjoy the old hardware since it fetches such a high price these days. When you buy such a thing, i'd feel hollow and worried about if such hardware goes wrong (CS PPC's for example, it's entirely likely).
In conclusion, there's often 2 types of buyers, collectors that have more money then sence and the people who want to enjoy them for what they are (but can't now thanks to collectors). Do remember it's only old computer hardware (like a 486 or Pentium I PC, except better obviously. Just making a point).

Plus if you think this is silly, look at what 68880 33+ MHz FPU's are fetching, they are not even rare.
