A1000 keyboard damaged | ||

Description: I bought this damaged keyboard with A1000 secondhand. I was told that it has been damaged by a light bulb that someone forgot to turn off.. :cry: There are two problems because of melting: - the keyboard cannot be opened (for cleaning, repairs..) - the leg beneath it cannot be closed so keyboard cannot fit in its A1000 bay, and its a bit shorter than other leg so kbd is not stable Any suggestions how to repair it would be helpful.. :-) Picture Stats: Views: 2375 Filesize: 221.59kB Height: 768 Width: 1024 Posted by: orange at September 10, 2006, 05:08:31 PM Image Linking Codes

Cass Posts:826 | April 13, 2007, 10:40:14 PM It`s a pity to see such a great KB reduced to this state. Cut the damaged part, and use some sort of molded plastic. You should ask at a modeling miniatures store for molding techniques/how to repair models. Then brush and paint the repaired area. Better consult somebody who`s been doing modeling/scale figures for years and has experience to such modifications, before doing something by yourself. |

TjLaZer Posts:3244 | January 03, 2007, 09:30:25 PM Use this story: It was a dark gloomy night and you were playing Alien 3 on your Amiga. When you were about to defeat the Alien some of the Alien's deadly acid squirted on your keyboard! Hahaha |
weirdami Posts:3776 | September 21, 2006, 02:08:06 AM Leave it like that. It's cool looking and you have a story to tell about it. But, I guess you could fix the leg by drilling it out and putting in a rod. Otherwise, leave the cool melty hole! :flame: |

Place the plastic bits where you made the cuts and apply bondo, then sand. Repeat the bondo process again untill you get a smooth finish. Problem is it will not look that good if you dont paint it, but it would be better than this for sure. |
