Wow!.. striking image -- The explain very clearly why he quit!.
is Just wish he be strong and and not suffer the condition.
Its hard.
-
Oh... pore bloke that's is sad to see guys :( .
-
That's got to be doubly bad for a guy that was known for his charm and charisma. I hope he recovers.:(
-
he doesn't look good. i may hate apple, but i really do hope he makes a recovery.
-
Gosh I kinda wish I hadn't of looked at that picture. :-(
-
Having lost 2 close relatives to cancer in recent years, I really wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. The man has had to deal with pancreatic cancer a few years ago. Looking at that image, one can't help feeling that he's had a relapse and it's popped up somewhere else. I can only echo the sentiment that he makes a recovery.
Love or hate Apple, credit has to be given to Jobbs himself. He's always been passionate about technology. You only have to look at those old videos of his NeXT step demonstration days to see that.
And before anybody feels like making a cheap shot at the apple fanboys, remember that to many present-day Apple users this guy is revered in the same way we do Jay Miner.
-
Lost a friend to cancer my self...
Well malpractice...
None the less, I saw enough of it with him, and the various people I take care of to know it's no fun.
On that note, if Steve wasn't a celeb, we wouldn't even be talking about him let alone know of him.
I feel worse for those people who are suffering, but no one takes the time to notice them. :/
-
He looks like Christian Bale on the Machinist
-
No doubt!

Whilst I don't generally agree with Steve Jobs and strongly disagree with the whole Apple philosophy on the way they build & make computers as nothing more than a trendy status symbol for those with more money than sense... :(
This speech made by him at Stanford University in 2005 in which he speaks about death is one thing I do agree with him on 100%... :)
It's the same way I look at life and basically boils down too, you only get one shot at life and it's very short in terms of time, so live your life doing what you think is right for you and doing what makes you truly happy and not what you think will just please others just to be thought of as a nice guy... ;)
Being in a similar situation as him with regard to death, I have to say even though I may not like or agree with what he's done as far as computers go I still hope he has the strength to fight what looks like a re-emergence of his cancer and hope he beats it once again... :)
With that being said I hope folks watch and listen carefully to this video clip as the words spoken in it will serve you well to remember and follow them through life and for once I actually agree with the man... ;)
Steve Jobs Speaks About Death...

He's talking about death at a Grad party?!!?
OK I've got to see this. I love people who are comfortable with the subjects of death and insanity...
...even though he is a coveting jerk...
...but still a human at the end of the day.
-
Good on you, Franko. Good on you.

I read on a website it was analyzed and it's a fake (i.e. photoshopped).
See here: http://i.imgur.com/WV5Y0.jpg
His head and shoulders are cut into the rest of the photo. That photo actually (I believe) is really him, but it was from months ago. But in this one the body is fake.

Love him or hate him, he's certainly left his mark on the world.
Here's hoping its not a cancer relapse, he had a pretty good prognosis when first diagnosed. It's a terrible thing to happen to anybody.

That's what he gets for reversing the scroll direction in Lion.

cruel, but funny.

you're an idiot, you know?

To be fair I'd rather the top 3 who started M$ got cancer like that. Jobs I couldn't give a crap about either way....he wouldn't care if I got it either.
Why be like that? Well which of those four ever visited Miner's grave or paid their respects? None.
Exactly.

what a cnut you are.
Bill gates cant give his money away quick enough and has done a LOT of good for charities fighting famine and disease around the world.
And you wish he had cancer?
You scumbag.

What kind of sick person are you? That you would wish something like cancer upon other people. I wouldn't wish that even on my worst enemy!
You sick sod!

WTF? Putting aside the completely out-of-order sentiment that you'd rather see anybody get cancer, your justification is that they never paid their respects to Jay Miner?
So, how many times have you done that? If the answer is never, you should probably reflect on that implies.

I was going to post the same link for the video as you (got it also on the last utube Subscription Update, Franko :)) I never had a good impression of him but to say the truth I never tried to know about him much, just the usual known stuff about Apple that some of we hate. But I also see a lot of truth about his speech not only regarding to death, more important than the picture being fake or not. Not every person gets the perfect job but one should try to continuously find it and to not accommodate.
Yes, it took a lot of courage and self-confidence of him to speak of dropping from high school and death to the audience :)

Like I said, while I don't agree with the way Apple produces and markets their products I do admire and indeed respect anyone who says what they truly think and believe and lives by the very words they say... :)
Too many people go through life saying "wish I had the courage to say that" but it's got nothing to do with courage it's just saying what you truly believe and if someone doesn't like what your saying, then that's their problem... :)

Hi,
Hate to say this but pancreatic cancer is one of the worst, it is known as the silent killer, and is usually to far spread through the pancreas and the body when found, even though I hate everything he made, I wouldn't wish any harm on him, or to die like that

Irrespective of whether the picture is fake I think it's obvious he's not doing well.
Hope he gets better but I get the feeling he might not this time.
As for his work I think it's quite accurate to call him a genius.
The Amiga team built a really ground breaking machine, but that was it. The original team broke up after that and Commodore never never did anything ground breaking with the machine.
Steve Jobs on the other had was involved with quite a number of these sorts of events. He had a knack of taking sometimes existing technology and making it easy to use, making it look good and most of all, making it work.
If you think it's all about making products look good then you really don't know what Apple is about.
Jobs was around for all of these, all of which were ground breaking in one way or another:
Apple 1 & 2
Mac
Next
iMac* (original)
iPod
iPhone
iPad
You can argue that many of these technologies existed before but many were non-mainstream or just plain rubbish.
Next in particular was an amazingly advanced machine - a unix with a good front end and cutting edge hardware - in 1988! Ever wonder where Commodore got the look of Workbench 2 from?
-
@ Digiman:
Sounds exactly like the sort of immature tripe I used to hear in the playground 25 years ago at school in Amiga vs Atari vs PC arguments amonst kids who didn't know what the hell they were talking about.
Grow up!
And my uncle died yesterday - of the results of pancreatic cancer. Even if the pictures are fake, they are a pretty accurate representation of what Steve Jobs may look like.

Yep it's pretty cruel.

@minator
Well said. I am no Apple fan/follower, but I have a respect for Jobs and all that he has accomplished. The man has achieved great things, period.
-
period.
You mean 'Full stop'.

If it wasn't for Apple, I likely wouldn't have ever gotten into computers. While I was always an Amiga user, my first experience was with LOGO on an Apple II in grade 3 or 4 at school.

That is so true, my friend.
I realized late last year that I had let myself be distracted for way too long, and I promised myself to spend more time doing stuff _I_ truly enjoy doing, and be way more direct and upfront with people. Since I made that decision, I've had a blast. Last winter I did more skiing than I've had for many years, I picked up old hobbies like diving, dancing and music making, been drinking more beers (craft beers ftw!) and eaten more cheeses than ever before, traveled a lot, visited parties and festivals (mostly psy-trance/goa) like I used to in the 90ies, had a wonderfull time meeting heck lots of nice people, made some good friends, and even fallen in love. Lost 25kg/55 pounds in the process (so far), and for the first time in prob more than a decade, I got a sunburn all over this summer... much to my own delight.
Thanks for the video clip, had not seen it before. Like you I have mixed feelings towards Steve Jobs, but I agree 100% with what he says there, and that's way more important than all this computer nonsense we tend to waste our time with.
-
@ Kolla
That Kolla is the best thing I've heard since I joined this site, I aint gonna be patronising here but I'm happy someone else has realised there is more to life than the computer nonsense we all gibber about here and some take it way too seriously for their own good... :)
While I enjoy my Amiga's they are not the most important thing in my life, if they all went up in flames sure I'd be a wee bit peeved but there are far too many other things I enjoy more in life than just computers, music being the main one and generally just talking to people and having a good laugh and and good time while doing so... :)
Paying bills, worrying about silly things like the economy or working in a job that I don't like nor enjoy are not for me and a waste of my life to let them bother me in any way, constantly meeting new people finding out about them and their life stories and doing things that I haven't tried before while all the time learning from these experiences is what makes me truly happy and of course trying to tell others I come across not waste their one shot in life on such mundane and what are really unimportant things at the end of it all... :)
I'm very happy for you and your change of lifestyle and sincerely hope it brings you true enjoyment and fulfilment in all that you do, as me auld grannie used to say "son lifes fur ra living so enjoy every minute o it while ye can, cos at ra end o ra day, yer a long time deid"... :)
That post Kolla has put a very big smile on my face, well done mate... :D

You're welcome - you have put a big smile on my face many times, I'm only happy to pay you back some! I'll let you know if I'm going to Scotland, would be fun to meet, could go out and drink some tea, or whatever it is you drink instead of beers

OMG! He must really be dying this time... :(
-
This image would not have to be released (although it belongs to an enemy of the Amiga) it is the clear image of a sick person who for a lot of money that has against the cancer the money does not do miracles.
-
Don't often come across a video on YouTube where I actually say to myself "now that is really well done & neat" but this to me is just one such video where I have to say this really is very neat and well done... :)

Drugs are bad mmkay?! ;)
You give way too much credit to a handfull of cosmic brownies and a lousy attempt at trying DMT. I think spending more than 50% of the time dancing hard, plenty of walking around and eating mostly vegetarian at these events have much more impact.
