David Braben's Prototype
« on: May 09, 2011, 06:55:17 PM »
Computer genius, David Braben, well known to us as the programmer from Elite and Elite II:Frontier has plans for bringing out a new cheap computer running linux named Rasberry Pi. Check out his prototype:

or on his website:

How many more times this site is not 100% amiga only. Get over it. Are you not interested in computers.

You could say there is a link as both elite and frontier were Amiga games.

Anyway I think this is a pretty cool project, might get one

Well, while the Efika MX Smarttop is a bit bigger and a bit more expensive, it's also ahelluvalot more usable, and I mean usable for *real stuff*.

This little gadget is kind of cool though... :)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

there are literally thousands of computersites, but only a few amiga sites. I am sorry to see amiga.org get "infected" with so much irrelevant news.

@yssing, fransexy et al

Huh, what's the matter with you people? Why the sudden emotions about general computing topics and report of interesting computer technology advances? Are you involved in some campaign here? Will you try to limit discussions to OS4 next? I mean, we have always been able to talk about this kind of stuff on amiga.org and it's hardly as it floods the site anyway, so if you don't like it, go to another site! Or don't read the topics that doesn't interest you, couldn't be simpler, what's your freckin' problem? At least AROS is aiming for ARM, so it's definitely relevant. And if you want to continue your incredibly annoying "TOS" discussions, please go to "TOS.net" (AW.net) which seems the appropriate site for that kind of stuff.

For a forum disscusion is ok. but as a news? then why do not put news about every ARM decive or any advance in x86 camp as Aros runs on it?

Cause if they only posted Very Amiga specfic news then the news page would stay the same for days on end.

please inlighten me then. Does it run native AOS?

just use 2 extra minutes to explain, rather than belittle people. If you can do that.

As in a dude who used to use/program for miggies now has a cute device he made all by himself and a friend.

Is it about OS4?  no.  Is it about MorphOS?  no.  Is it about AROS?  no.  Is it about Amiga hardware?  unknown.  Is it about Amiga People?  DING DING DING!

True, but for Braben's purposes (giving students a dirt-cheap machine to do a lot of tinkering on) it's quite suitable. I hope that this works out the way he thinks it will - it's high time kids were learning how to program again.
