Windows NT4 and Windows2000 Source Code Pieces Leaked
« on: February 13, 2004, 09:07:52 AM »
"Neowin has learned of shocking and potentially devastating news. It would appear that two packages are circulating on the internet, one being the source code to Windows 2000, and the other being the source code to Windows NT."

lempkee, people who want to exploit NT4/Win2k.  People who want to write software that integrates better into the OS.  People who are just plain interested.  I'd like to get hold of the Win2k source code, then all I need to do is learn C/C++ :-)

Well, maybe the guys who leaked the source (though I would not want to be in their skin if Microsoft catches them :) )

. bring out details on how much "spying" is going on
in Windows Update processes and such
- bring out details on how crappy the Windows
  Source Code *really* is

? :)

There have been concerns about WU and privacy.  I haven't found any evidence of anything dodgy like that with WU.  The main thing that concerns me about WU is the poor detection, and resulting "your machine is up-to-date" if the detection process for some reason failed.

I think the biggest concern for MS is (if it is true), the rate of exploits will increase (not dramatically), and their reputation for security tarnished further.

seriously i think its about time WINDOWS got that rock thrown at it :)

next it will be , DOORS for your pc! , as everyone knows doors is easier to enter and much faster + you wont need to tell your neighbours everytime u want to enter the window anymore (so there wont be a security breach :D).

UPGRADE NOW!

only 5.99$

anyway maybe they leaked the code themselves? , i mean.. so that serious people could recode windows and make it a better os in general ? :)

sorry but i do find this funny and if people get afraid because of the source code to windows is out, well then its about to buy an AMIGA :) and start developing the power tools for that , or you can use any of the other os's out there, i am sure BEOS and macos would LOVE to be on top! :=)

Whoever did the leaking is in deep sh!t for sure. Microsoft will be massively damaged. Mass unemployment is looming in the IT sector. Microsoft, the US Exchequer, and thousands of businesses are set to lose billions. And let's face it: the authorities treat the loss of such money as greater than the loss of hundreds of lives. Microsoft have friends in the US government, and you can be sure they'll use everything they have to track down the source of the leak and any of the primary download sources around him/her.

This isn't like pirating mp3 or even Half Life 2 source: don't get it wrong, the authorities will take this very, very seriously if it's true (and it seems to be). I bet more than one person got their door kicked down by a SWAT team yesterday. ;)
