A fast question... does Creatives SB Live! 5.1 work with the Mediator? If yes, is it the same sb128.audio driver (version?) or does it need something else?

No, not yet. I heard there was a AHI beta with SBLive! driver but I don't know if it works on Mediator.

Damn, could get one for just 13$ but if it doesn't work there's no point. I'm using SB128 atm but it doesn't realy fit into the MAX Upgraded A4000 Machine I'm picturing myself so what is the best soundcard for the mediator atm then (or should I perhaps look for a native Amiga hardware if I want the best of the best)?

The best one out there is the Sound Blaster Digital 4.1 sound card. It's cheap, (get one off of E-bay for $5 USD), has surroud sound (supported by the Mediator MM CD) and you can use ALL the inputs internal and external with common sound software.
I have my Native Amiga sound going into the Mic port right now (the "Audio IN" port is to high and inside the case). BUT there are three internal inputs that if you sliced a norm audio cable and put a CD internal (4-pin) conector, you could integrate it that way.
The mixer software gives full control over each input vol wise and even boost for the mic.

BTW, the SB LIVE! card will be supported by Mediator but they said it won't be any time soon. I asked a week ago....

I saw something about the emu10k1 driver (SB-Live! support + other) been released for amiga..
BUT I think it wasn't quite for the Mediator..
In that case you'll have to wait a little more :)

It is supported through OpenPCI but I dunno if it works with Mediator.

ELBOX itself recommends the Terratec 512i board as the best sound card for Mediator Amigas.

I have the original SBLive! with the SPDIF daughterboard and gold plated edge connectors (Cost £120 in 1999!!), and it works fine in my mediator using the latest OpenPCI & AHI drivers.

Been long since I read about it, but I remember OpenPCI wasn't gonna support the Mediator, has that changed ?!
BTW, does that SPDIF support 24bit 96khz ?

Does anyone know where to get the latest Beta AHI with soundblaster live! driver (emu10kx) for OpenPCI 2.0?

The last two versions of OpenPCI have had Mediator support again.
16bit 48kHz output only. I did buy it in 1999! :-D
