Just about related to amiga - You wont believe this

Check out the last page of this post.  Mentions ripping off on the original amiga game that wasn't released.  Its all pretty amazing how they thought they would get away with it anyway.

I wonder if any of it has to do with the company not following through when the designer gave them some "something like this" mockups.

They both probably use the same pre-fabricated rooms. The designs are 100% the same. The same counts for sounds, I often hear the same sounds in different games. I doubt it's plagiarism, I think those game development studios just buy those pre fabricated stuff from other design companies rather then building it themselves.
That's called outsourcing.

@Speelgoedmannetje

You gotta be kidding me. This is a bit more serious than single room being identical.

Yes if you look at all the pictures, you can see they have just straight ripped screen from several differnet games, inccluding menus etc.

Why would I be kidding you? What's so strange about a game company buying prefabricated stuff? :-? The rest of the world's industry is doing it all the time...

Yeah but the devs of this game have literally copied entire segments from a {bleep}load of other games. Graphics, sound, music, even pieces of text!

Wow. Even the name of the game was plagiarized. I didn't read the whole thread, but I did notice that the main character is Captain Benjamin S. Briggs, the real life captain of the Mary Celeste, a ship found abandoned in the Azores, the story of which is documented in Limbo of the Lost by John Wallace Spencer. Crazy stuff.

EDIT: Ah. I see. The game is actually about the Mary Celeste and the same Briggs.

EDIT: Now I've got to run to Fry's or Best Buy to see if I can find it on the shelves! ;-)

I think the BeetleJuice pic, pretty much seals the coffin lid on the notion that they were just using pre-fabricated stuff.

I think it was nice of them to give a job to that poor Iraqi Information Minister, after he lost his job denying the existence of the American tanks moving behind him...he is certainly qualified for the job...

"No, there are no copied items in this game! That is not a screen from Diablo 2 you are seeing there!!"
