People will not fall for this. It's just regular Windoze PC after all.

Don't get fooled, this has absolutely nothing to do with original Commodore.

what so, i say better commodore branded than dell anytime!!!!

Many companies try to ride the name of commodore, it began with escom's attempt. But there is now new under the sun, So people will not buy these things too. These companies fail at the point, when the products need some little plus to market, and they simply don't add anything.

Well, at least this company ACTUALLY produced the C64-DTV, which is as close to a re-issue of the original C64 hardware as we are ever likely to see.  At least they are acknowledging the Commodore "heritage" in products like the DTV (even the font in the banner of the Commodore Corporate website is the C64 font).  Obviously they can't suddenly continue where the old Commodore left off (that would be suicide).

They have already done more in a short while than Tulip ever did when it held the Commodore assets.

I may be wrong,  but I get the idea its a PC Gaming computer kinda like those expensive Alienware computers,  maybe they will have a "c64" pricing attitude and sell them cheap like the  c64's

Yeah, I think we all expect a regular PC in a Commodore branded box.  It would be cool though if they at least had a custom case which harkened back to the C64 or something (while updating the look).

Realistically, how could it be anything more than a C= badged PC?  Anyone expecting weird and exotic hardware in 2007 is living in an 80's inspired dream.

For what it's worth, good on them, at least they're doing something with their brand.  I'd rather have a well spec'ed C= badged PC, than something unique with no software support.

Lets hope they can make a profit and put some cash into further DTV like ventures...

On the plus side... we should soon have C= branded towers to put our modded Migs into!

As coldfish said... I'd rather have a good C= PC than something with three softwares that won't reach v2.0....

The home computer race is over, there's only PC and MAC left. And even then... it's turning into an OS war more than an hardware one. What with OSX being installable on PC now. MS will get on the bandwagon soon enough. Eventually, we will have completely abstracted the hardware in favor of software. We *will* reach the physical limit at some point, so the only improvements left to make will be in how we use the electronics. Actually this has been predicted by that dude who stated that every 6 months, technology will have doubled it's processing power... Thompson I think? So far he's been right :)

To risk another, incompatible, technology on such an agressive market is well beyond anything this small time C= lookalike company can support long enough to break even, let alone make profits and continue producing new models.

Regarding its a PC, name throwing etc...

LOL, what did you expect?  A revamped C= 128 running on a Linux kernal with 3 games?

At least they're actively engaged in entering the computing business with products and time lines to debut them.  Unlike (cough, cough) some other company.

I tip my hat off to them!

I wonder how much revenue they have coming in and if they have any interest in the Amiga line.

Anyone have any info here?

No matter the interest they might have in the Mig, they don't own the rights to it. And from what I've seen over the years, anyone who owns the Amiga brand becomes a nazi. With people all around the world clinging to some copyright they bought back at C='s yardsale and still think they're gonna make a living off a machine that phased out of production 15 years ago...well...heh.

Although I have to say that I would really enjoy Amiga DTV devices, classified by developper. I'm getting the Psygnosis and Team17 ones first.. oh and the Factor5.. and Luc----erm

Come to think of it... we should coerce Dennis into making such a system! :D

The sad thing that I lament about all of this is that the graphics and games on these PC boxes with all their great 3d and shader model 3/4 functionality are better than anything currently available on a classic Amiga or AmigaOne because of what their graphics hardware can do. Now I am not suggesting Amiga Inc. should come out with a PC and slap an Amiga logo on it, but they need to upgrade the graphics functionality, because these "Commodore" PCs and the games and graphics they can do make the Amiga current stuff look not as capable. Graphics.Library needs to be rewritten to support 3d and pixel shanders and vertex shaders..
