My general tinkerings – Part 4
My general tinkerings – Part 4
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: This setup is the combined result of tinkering with PIC’s, stepper motors, and IR control.
The grey box holds all the electronics (The dome houses the IR sensor and indicator LED’s) and is capable of handling up to 4 motors, albeit only two are in use at the moment for the X-Y camera pan turntable as shown in the photo.

There’s two ways of controlling the motors via the IR controller – Either an absolute numerical position can be sent, in which case the associated motor will rotate to that location, or a motor can be gradually stepped in increments using what would normally be the volume buttons on the controller (Whilst stepping the software keeps track of the motors location, so the absolute position and stepping commands can be used interchangeably and without loss of precision).
