IDE-Fix License
« on: July 08, 2011, 07:48:41 PM »
I wondered if anyone can help with this issue.
I have installed IDE-Fix and it is working great!
But it is a 'demo' version that requires the license key, I have tried to contact the owner but the email address is no longer in use. I won't mind the window coming up at the start of Workbench but it comes up every 20 mins or so......any ideas?

Cheers

Don't try googling "idefix serial" :)

Hi,

No longer exists unless you buy a ide buffer from amigakit, do you own Cloanto's Amiga Forever?

I would just use that, it saves on the hardware for the Amiga.
I have no idea what your talking about, so here is a doggy with a small pancake on his head.

MorphOS is a MAC done a little better

Idefix isn't supplied with any buffered IDE adapter afaik. I seriously doubt that you can find Idefix software available to buy anywhere these days.

HMMMM,

I thought for sure I saw it with IDEFix hardware buffer, I know my buddha has it. Oh what the heck, just use Cloanto's Amiga Forever.

On a related note, do you reccommend any of the following patches for IDEFix?

why would you tell a guy who CLEARLY is using REAL amiga hardware to use fake ass emulation? (and yes I have amiga forever but only use it to xfer files from my x86 box and to make cf cards for Real amigas)

Telling a guy to use amiga forever when he asks questions about help with something completely different is idiotic

Haven't tried any of those mate. Sorry.
I don't install Idefix most of times since I only use the 1st IDE channel (Primary) where no software is needed.
OS3.9's installation gives support for my CD etc. No need for Idefix in my case.

http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/IDEfixTURBO
http://aminet.net/package/driver/media/IDEFix_patches

I haven't used them but I did notice:

1) The "IDEfixTURBO" patch is OLDER then the latest version of IDEFix by eight months (Both in 1999).  But it states that it will increase data transfer 100-300K.  Might be worth a try for that. ;)

2) The "IDEFix_Patches" was put out last year (2010).  So very very new in Amiga terms.

3) They are both patches which means you are changing the files at their core so you'll want to back up before attempting.  this also means you'll have to DO the patching.  No, the patching software does not come with the .LHAs but they do recommend one or two packages.

4) The second file is specifically for using CF cards on your Amiga.  IF you don't have a CF reader, no need to do the patch.  From the docs I can't quite tell if this is just to allow reading or to make "hot swapping" possible...

So I hope that helps in your decisions whether or not to patch.  If you do try them, please let us know what to outcome is.  Please?

Thanks mate, next week I'm setting up an A1200/060 wedge for WHDLoad with a 4GB SDHC Card as it's hard disk so I'll let you know how I get on. :)
