Can't edit posts..........
« on: December 05, 2019, 03:53:36 AM »
Lately I have not been able to edit posts after I log out. I thought it might have been a Safari thing, as I'm on Catalina now. However, member outlawal2 mentioned that he could not edit posts either. Hmmm, something to this? I know, clear browser caches, history and core memory dump*.

I've validated my conclusion that it might be an AO thing using two different MACs and versions of Safari & Firefox.

Anyone else had this problem?

In what way. Just saying you can't edit post's, does not help. As logging out means you can't edit posts anyway.
You may be refering to the current text cache issue. If you click back. Still trying to track this one down.

Same here, notice you can no longer edit posts. The feature was recently called 'modify', but it no longer shows as an option after a while or possibly clearing your browsers cache, etc. I'll give it a try now...

This time I simply logged out/logged back in, and see I can no longer modify either of the above posts.

Correct, same here...  there is no longer a "Modify" option (for any previous posts) after logging back in.

@F0LLETT   I wish I could give you more information but that's all I have to go by.

You can still modify and save a few minutes after posting, I presume the goal is to avoid that people edit old postings to fit their current narrative ;)

Right, but something has happened recently to the ability to modify posts. For example and not that long ago, I was able to modify an old Marketplace post of mine, but no longer can. For the longest time I could not (which made a complete mess out of the sale thread), then was able to. I thought great, they finally fixed that, but the option to modify is broken now again.

I think you should be able to modify posts in the Marketplace indefinitely. Especially when wanting to update your current goods for sale/trade.

Sure, put a time limit on all other posts if you want (few days maybe?), but losing the ability to modify (say you catch a misspelling, left out details, etc.) right away after logging out, then back in again is strange IMO.

One of my posts less than 4 days old I cannot edit it. There's no 'Modify' button any more for me either.

Testing  :D

It prevented me from editing a post that was only a minute or two old. I had not logged out in the meantime. Something is badly broken and needs fixing.
