wow if that sells then I'll be rich:rofl: well to be honest I don't plan on selling my A1000 for as long as I can still have the health to use her regularly which God willing is still a looong time so then it's probably better to say my kids will be rich when they sell mine many many many years from now ;-)

More likely all our Amiga's will end up in land fill once we're gone, unless we can get our children obsessed with them.

This isn't a particular, single auction but a general crazy auction that I just don't understand. All the auctions I see trying to sell magazine cover floppies. I just don't get it.

Why would anyone pay any amount of money, even 1 cent, for a 20+ year old floppy disk that might never have worked even when it was originally bought because of the trip through the mail with heat, rain, etc. Not to mention, it's a TWENTY PLUS year old floppy! Floppies under the best of conditions can fail in less time than that.

What's the point? I think pretty much every cover disk is available for download. Are there actually collectors that are completionist enough that they have to have an original cover disk, whether it works or not?

I bought the whole AUI coverdisk set about 10 years ago, they seem to all work. I just wanted the set. AUI had some great programs too. Yeah, some nut-collectors out there.

Okay, I wouldn't actually call this a "crazy eBay posting" at all but it is.....exceptional:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Commodore-AMIGA-500-RESTORED-UPGRADED-1MB-CHIP-FAT-AGNUS-POWER-SUPPLY-MOUSE-REV6-/152177626783?hash=item236e7e4e9f:g:CZwAAOSwbYZXeGR0

So if I turbo-wash my A500 and replace some caps, I can almost get $400? Not bad. I think my trapdoor RAM expansion is even better. I need to get to work on this...

Oh, but my power switch does not have a light on it. Darn.

Only the two larger caps pictured were replaced. I like the power light, but it seems to add $300 to the price for some reason. The problem I have with 'refurbs', is that of originality; How do I know it has an original ROM, or matching shielding, or matching upper and lower plastics? I'd much prefer to buy a warranty sealed unit if possible, or one that you just know the seller hasn't tampered with. Of course, refurbed is good when originality (matching of original parts) is explicitely stated. I'd never assume it.

But $400? I've never known a stock A500 go for that. Never ever. Nuts.

I can't believe it but someone actually bought this SX32 Pro for €4,700. I don't know who they are but they're officially the craziest Amiga buyer I've ever heard of :)

Says it's relisted my end, yet I can't access it.

LOL it's listed as "For parts, not working".  Then in the description says "working according to previous owner".  No risk there at all.

Have you seen his other items? Games that cost hundreds of euros.
If I was stinking rich I'd still not pay his prices as a matter of principle.

For just the box?

Seriously???

Do you really want to mess with Biff Tannen?

Maybe there was manure in the box and that's why he wants rid (looks like there may have been).

I've just come across these Commodore-Amiga OS3.1 disk sets. I haven't seen any Commodore-Amiga OS3.1 disks before, only Amiga Technologies OS3.1 disks:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AMIGA-OS-3-1-WORKBENCH-Full-Floppy-Disk-Set-Amiga-500-600-1200-2000-3000-4000-/322217614133?hash=item4b05aa9b35:g:L70AAOSwGXtXhMmH

These look very similar to my 3.0 disks except for that weird pronounced bar thing at the top of the label - looks different somehow. So I decided to see what I could find online and came across this over at Amiga history guide:

http://www.amigahistory.plus.com/amigaos31.html

These disks shown here at Amiga history guide are certainly not the same 3.0 themed label disks as in the auction. These disk labels are of 2.0 theme, which I find strange - mostly due to the fact that the 2.1 release disks carried the same label style / theme as the 3.0 release. Look at the books though, they carry the correct 2.1/3.0 theme / style logo. You've got to love Commodore's consistency. :)

Don't think the price is outrageous though.

Quite right, they're very reasonably priced.

Please, can someone buy it for 99p and collect it?

Get your genuine 1980's blown capacitors here! These are from actual...yes ACTUAL BBC Micro computers. Only 99p a pop! (plus 75p p+p)

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-Retro-Capacitors-From-acorn-Bbc-Micro-Popped-/162254594429?nav=SEARCH

They're listed 'For parts or not working'. Interesting thought is this...what if your blown capacitor works? Would the purchaser be able to make a 'Item not as described' claim and have their money fully refunded?

That GVP 030 seems about right for UK prices.
