Well I have decided to end my relationship with everything Amiga and I am selling everything I have, clearing the storage area and selling up. Everything will be listed on Aussie eBay over the next few days, all up I expect about 60+ auctions for some very nice Amiga items.
In this lot will be an Amiga 500 plus (rare in Aussie land), Amiga 600, Amiga CD32, Amiga 3000, Amiga 4000 and a very clean neat CDTV.
I shall also be listing a Picasso IV, CyberStorm MKII 060, Ariadne network card, Emplant, A2091 SCSI, A590, A570, manuals, OS updates, Kickstart roms, CD's and every CDTV bit you can find! Have a look, everything starting at 0.99c so you might grab a bargain or two.
Once everything is sold I will be retiring from Amiga.org!
Thanks for the memories!

LOL.. I have done the same thing two times before :-)

I highly doubt at my stage of life I will be coming back, for one hardware is getting harder each day to get! and very expensive as well!
-
Nice title :-D
Just because you sell off all your real Amiga hardware is no reason to quit Amiga.org. Many, many users here don't own any Amiga classic hardware. Heck I've gone times without any myself. Stick around, you will still be welcome.
-
Really if you don't own the hardware, whats the point?

Added the following to my auction list

There's always WinUAE :-)
-
jimbo100 wrote:

The point is that there's something you cannot sell via Ebay ... your Amiga knowledge.
If you leave the community, we all lose.
-
jimbo100 wrote:

Why lose acquaintances (or friendships) had for 10++ years over hobby hardware? There's always Amiga Forever, WinUAE, AROS etc. Wayne has also given us the Alternative OS forum. to discuss whatever. I enjoy talking to the people here.
-
Totally agree with Red. There's lots of people who's only experience with Amiga's is via emulation. I personally may not care for that approach, but it's always an option. Please don't leave Amiga.org, even if you just stop by occasionally to make a snide comment, or a bad joke :-P
my .02 ....
-
Really if you don't own the hardware, whats the point?
Must you own some certain peice of hardware to associate with other friends in your life? ;-)
I too am clearing house on most Amiga (and all other pc hardware) and switching gears to classic car restorations. But I'll be hanging around regardless.

In very good nick and works a treat, no issues!

Is the A600 AGA coming up for sale? :-o
Edit: My mistake, was thinking of "jimbob" not "jimbo".
-
Jimbo a few things.
1. Don't leave it doesn't cost anything to come here and hang out also as mentioned before your knowledge would help all of us.. :-D
2. I hate you... The wife is going to kill me for sure now i will be doing my best to grab some of your items... too bad I spent soo much at Amigakit :-D
3. There aren't that many Aussies left here please stick around.
But seriously i hope you don't leave for ever.

You know, maybe you should keep atleast your most favourite machine, I know Im happy I never sold our one time owned A1000.
Many a times I went back to it, just to play some classic games, that I couldve played via emulation, but it just wasnt the same on the emulator.
Hearing those disk loading, and the disk loading sequences, while it gives you an excuse to do some pushups, is just good.
Everytime I play street fight 2 on her, I actually get fit inbetween the loading sequences, by doing 20 pushups, times this by about 13 characters, and then the car, cellar barrels, and the flame barrels, and youve already done like 240 plus pushups in one sitting of about 30 minutes. :)
Anyway, I have come back onto the scene now, I would say, as recently ive been playing on the A1200, until I get my sam440ep.
CHeers from skipper land.
Victoria the place to be.

Thought about it but whats the point, my fav is the A4000 but it just doesnt get turned on and one day it will die.
At the moment is works perfectly and would be better off in someone elses hands, someone who will get some use out of it! At this stage I havent listed the A4000 or it's contents. e.g. Picasso IV but will do in the next few days. The A4000 has all the real goodies in it!

Aye jimbo, where in Perth are you again (if you said before).
I used to live in Armadale, before crossing the great divide to Victoria. (Yes I did the 3 or so days drive from Perth to Melbourne)

I have my eye on the cdtv trackball, would really make my current cdtv setup complete.

Currently at $4.24, not many bids but 26 watchers. Be a bit disappointed if I get no more bids on this item but thats life! Cost me a far penny and lots of searching to get a few months ago!

Yeah, I'm still alive and kicking
Nice to see you again. All's well with you I hope? :-)
@Jimbo100
Please don't take this as an untoward question, but I see that you've stipulated a less than 10 feedback clause. Were I to bid for something why would I need to discuss it with you? Again, I am not trying to be a smart alek or anything, just curious (I shut down my eBay account as mine had gotten hacked into... and it had lay dormant for over a year, as in I hadn't even gone into the ebay website at all... bloody eBay :madashell: )
-
Because I have had a few auctions were idiots bid stupid amounts stuffing it for the serious buyers and once the auctions ends you never here from them again. Now since eBay stopped sellers leaving negative feedback it's hard to tell who is serious and who is a time waster.
My recent case in point
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&item=160293115891
Now I can't leave negative feedback for him and since the auction ended someone has left positive feedback for him. Since my auction ended he hasn't responded!!
His feedback can only go up, never down no matter how many auctions he doesnt complete!!!
So if your serious contact me prior so I know your serious!!
-
Ah OK, fair enough.
re the auction: ouch!

Indeed I was a member of Gloria's local meeting place :)
Except then, i only had my Amiga 500. Used to get all my PD stuff from Amilight in South Perth.

Yes I remember the fellow who ran that joint. We had him and who could forget old computerman in Mt Lawley. The guy was crazy and hated time wasters.

Was he the guy who used to advertise in ACAR? We bought our CD32 from him in Jan 1995. What ended up happening to him?
-
Bodie_CI5 wrote:

Yes he did advertise in ACAR, either a full back page or inside the front cover with a small strip. He closed the store down a few years ago. After the Amiga died off he sold PC parts but the place was always a mess. Would have been a few gems in that store when it closed. He had a couple of PET machines sitting on a shelf for years, all probably sitting in a shed now somewhere rusting away!

Off Topic. A small thread-hijack, but maybe you Australians can help me out.
Edit: Finally got in touch with the guy, he was out of town (and that can be pretty far out in Australia, I guess  )

I can understand the feeling about the bidders who disappears after winning the bid, it sucks. It isn't easy to bid at ebay, when you have a low feedback, just because there are tons of those who raise the bid and never buy or pay. I agree that no negative feedback is unfair, no, wait, it's insane.
I don't like to use ebay, but getting most of things to my amiga has been nearly impossible without it.

Last of my Amiga gear listed on eBay
Amiga 4000/030
Picasso IV
Toccata Sound Card
Ariadne Network Card
Cyberstorm MKII 68060 50MHz

Already tried that, phone number was disconnected. A total waste of space and a time waster however eBay now allows these types to function and exist!
-
Hey Jimbo,
Did you have Two 1411's to sell mate ? I noticed you had one listed and then another today with "Buy it now". I snapped up the "Buy it now" drive. The listings looked exactly the same so I just want to make sure.

I certainly did have two to sell!

Many people these days take notice of comments left against Ebay transactions so there is nothing stopping you from leaving a positive feedback rating and a scathing non-paying bidder scum type comment.

Yes I thought about that but it just seems wrong to give someone postive feedback for being a {bleep}tard!

By all means give them positive feedback ... The comment you leave them though can be more damaging especially when people who read the comments find that the person is a non-payer.

Less than a day to go on some of the auctions, still a few bargins to be had!
Also a few new things added!
Misc Memory Modules - Simms & Dimms (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110309161902)
-
Woohoo! Finally got a CD32!!
Cheers Jimbo, have always wanted one of these..
Now to wait for the postie and intercept the credit card statement before my wife sees it :nervous:
-
Nice to hear it's going to a good home...
But alas I have come across my another wally on eBay. He has left me negative feedback already. First he buys a A3000 floppy drive and pays for it, then tells me he no longer wants it. Makes a Buy it now offer on the Amiga 3000 and I tell him it's too late it got bids. Then he bids, cancels the bids, then bids again and now emails me and still doesn't want the floppy drive and wants to cancels more bids.
Being a time waster I ban his bidding arse and he complains again because he missed out on some A3000 roms because he couldn't bid...end result negative feedback....God I hate eBay sometimes....You just can't help some people!

....God I hate eBay sometimes
Personally I'm quitting ebay for now. I've been there since 1998 and it's worked pretty well. But lately my auctions have been a pain in the rear. I'll be using things like craigslist, kijiji, and other sites. That's working very well for me with no headaches so far.

Those who are overseas from Australia and paid, their items have now been posted, those items bought before Saturday going to Aussie addresses were posted on Friday. I will be doing another run to the post office (prob Wednesday/Thursday) later this week for aussie buyers who have paid.
Still waiting for lots of items to be paid for, they will be given till Wednesday to contact or I will offer 2nd chance to a few people!
-
I'll say thank you now, and i will give you a good ebay feedback as soon as i get them. Always pleasure to deal with honest sellers.
I don't understand ppl who bid insanely and then forget to pay :-? I bid only the amount that i'm willing and capable to pay with shipping and handling. Goes for ebay as well as local ebay like.
Cheers

Hey Jimbo.
Just a correction on the PicassoIV.
Your line, "This unit is in great shape but due to its age is sold as is with no warranty. Flicker fixer is still attached to the card." is slightly Incorrect.
Flicker Fixer was NEVER detachable. What you are referring to is the Graphics slot adapter, which in different Amiga models was located in different parts of the main board, so was detachable and reconnected by Ribbon Cable.
-
jimbo100 wrote:

Can't understand that myself, why bid and then not pay once the auction is finished?
You'd have to be a real d*ck to push up the price of something beyond what you can pay, ruin it for the other bidders and the seller then just walk away...
If it is the cdtv you haven't been paid for then I'm up for the 2nd chance offer even though I've spent the rest of my cash on an SX-1 for the CD32 already! :-D

Even if the highest bidder doesn't pay, looking at the bid history on the 4000 you could still get $1k from the second highest bidder, so I'd say you're pretty safe there :-)
