How to buy LinuxCD for A1/Peg
« on: September 14, 2003, 06:09:00 PM »
Hello
Because of slow Internet speed, it is impossible
to download Linux CDs. Is there any bona fide
Linux shop that sell "ready to install/LiveCD"
for AmigaOne or Pegasos board?
I had contacted several Mac Linux shop, but
unfortunately they said that their Linux CD
is only for Apple machines.
Thank's.

Which distribution are you looking to install?
As long as you've got the installer CD that goes with your mobo, you should be able to get the distro you want from your dealer.
I sell Debian, for example.

@asain1

It was announced that the upcoming version of the Super Bundle for the Pegasus would include a  PEG X LIN a single Bootable Install CD for the latest Debian PPC Pegasos Kernal and KDE 3.1.x.

You probably won't be at the show, but I remember some time ago Bill Buck mentioning that the Super Bundle would be available to purchase at a nominal cost. If you are a Pegasos owner you may want to contact Genesi to see when these will be available for purchase.

Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Often it is a good idea to approach a local Linux User group. There are often individuals who will be happy to download and burn the necessary ISOs for a small charge.

There are no shops that sell "ready to install" Linux CDs for AmigaOne or Pegasos.  In the case of the AmigaOne, you get an AmigaOne-specific install CD, for either Debian or Yellow Dog, then you go and buy the PPC Debian or Yellow Dog CDs from any vendor you want, or get somebody to download and burn them for you.  Probably Pegasos is similar.

Try contacting David Bentham at this address:
david260179 at tiscali.co.uk. He's the person behind the PegXLin bootable CD for Pegasos and has offered to send people the CD for postage and packaging costs only.
