if all these Aeon boards are so called made for OS4 why does it take so long to write the dam drivers for them. Why not pick network chips that we already have working drivers. Same goes for sound. I get the feeling these boards are not just made for Amiga OS4. yes I am loosing hope now

Well MoprhOS 3.10 didn't have an announcement by a commercial company 2 years and 3 months ago...Giving the impression that it would be available "soon". Announcing something that long before it becomes available is just lunacy from a business perspective.[/QUOTE]

No but news of its possible release has been rumored for a number of months now and the project for MorphOS to appear on the X5000 has been on the cards for over a year.  When i spoke to one of the MorphOS people demoing 3.10 on an X5000 at Amiga 32 and enquired about its release, they told me it would be out by the end of the year.

29 days into the new year, we are still waiting.....

Patiently as always, like we do with any other piece of Amiga related hardware and software.....
Amigaone X5000 4GB with Radeon HD 7750 and Amiga OS 4.1 FE Pre-Release

Amigaone 500 2GB with Radeon 5450 and Amiga OS 4.1 FE update 1

Amiga 1200 with ACA 1231/42 accelerator and Amiga OS3.9

Amiga CD32

Because it's a product that allows you to use OS 3.1 (Amikit version) / OS 4.1 (Classic version) / Linux seemlessly on a laptop straight out of box and it is available now if imported from America! Commodore sold their inhouse LCD development division so this is a close as we've ever got to an Amiga laptop! That's why. The Tabor/A1222 is still unreleased without a release date with a problematic FPU at this point. Forgive me for getting excited about a product I can actually buy!

Some of us had Amiga laptops running Amithlon 17 years ago.

I think what johnklos was perhaps getting at is that its a thread about the A1222 board rather than one of the A.L.I.C.E. threads?
Always happy to see new Amiga products make the light of day but a laptop is not what I'm watching this particular thread for either :)

There is rally nothing else we can do, but wait.

But I am also a bit puzzled as to why they couldn't have picked sound and NIC chips that works already.

AFAIK FPU emulation is already running, but not optimized enough yet. But hey better to have something rather than nothing at all.

Well, the P1022 CPU has 2 ethernet controllers built in, so it makes sense to use those. It also makes sense to use its I2C port for an audio codec, thereby saving your PCIe bandwidth for the graphics card.

Agreed. @amigakit - would you please care to comment? The Chinese factories are slowly beginning to open up, so I suppose that will potentially affect the roadmap/time plan in a positive way for your A1222 Early Adopters? In any case, a new update is called for - right?

A1222 Musings

While the Covid-19 has certainly slowed the A1222 Plus Early adopter release schedule, work has continued despite the delays caused by the pandemic.

A1222 version 1.3

The project is being controlled by Matthew Leaman and he recently took delivery of the updated layout files from James Felix, the former Ultra Varisys engineer who was a key designer of the original Tabor board. The new motherboard, renamed A1222 v1.3, includes replacements for several obsolete minor components. Now Matthew can push ahead with producing a small batch of boards to ensure there are no surprises with the updated design after which he will give the green light to manufacture the Early Adopter batch. Over to you Matthew..........
