040 over 030
« on: April 09, 2005, 05:36:53 PM »
Hi all,
At presnt I am using an Apollo 030 Turbo MkIII at 40Mhz.
If I get hold of an Magnum MkII 040 at 25 Mhz would I get a much better improvement on AHI via my PCI sound card?
At the moment I have to use the Amigas audio out to the Input of the PCI sound card.
I expect a better peformance on AWeb and IBrouse.

All in all I should get a better peformance all the way round.
Can any one tell me please what type of peformance I will expect to see?

BTW, using 32meg Fastram
TIA,

Mike.

I don`t know the individual performance of those two cards (it`s not all about the CPU only) but you could expect a performance increase of about 100%.
You should be aware thet compatibility with old Software is wost with a 040 compared to a 030, but I guess you arent after old software when you mention PCI an AHI.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

I saw a 100% increase from a 50Mhz-030 to a 25Mhz-040
