There was nothing stopping the OP from editing his post and typing in "nude content"..

There was nothing requiring he do it either.  He was required not to post such at all, but thats between him and the A.org mods as a TOS issue.

Between him and you first off he owes you nothing.  You were clicking links from people you don't know at work.  Moving on to the question of simple courtesy he was fine though, he had you covered with "+16....be careful".  The fault here lies with you either being too dense to get the obvious, OR you got the obvious but did not expect to get walked in on in the act and now you are trying to transfer blame from the rightful owner (you) to the OP.

Dude "+16 be careful" DOES not mean sex scene, nude scene, boobs being massaged, full nude woman shot.

Its safe to say it means its not safe for work.  What reason its not safe for work is unclear from what was written, but thats besides the point.

Quote from: Vlabguy1;622585
Please honestly when you clicked on did you expect an almost porn scene?  If you did then your the man.

I expected it was not safe for work because there was a warning posted with the link.  No I did not divine that it contains "an almost porn scene".  Again, thats besides the point.

Quote from: Vlabguy1;622585
To me and a few others this so called warning was a bit lax when the OP could have just as easily typed "nude content".

No one is saying it could not be more specific.  A nudity warning would be helpful for someone at home around their wife or children for instance.  But you said your gripe was that it led to you losing your job and that you wanted to get your lawyer involved.  The threshold for something not being safe for work is much much lower.  If someone you don't know is telling you to be careful with a link don't click it at work, thats darn straightforward.

A bit short sighted of him to assume this +16 means the same all over da world.

"Be careful" means the same thing all over "da world" if you can read English.  It means don't view it at work, at least not in front of others.

Um ..really "be careful" means don't view at work all over the world=wrong. "Don't view at work" means don't view at work all over the world.

People like you are the reason coffee cups now have to say "WARNING - CONTENTS MAY BE HOT" on them.  :(

Hey.. I take offense to that( just kidding) So true but the difference with me is that I would not sue in order to get that warning on the cup.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with stating the obvious and covering all the bases.  America could be called the "Land of the lawsuit".  It is a sad fact.

So you were threatening utilizing a lawyer for what exactly?

I know its hard for you to think before you type but you should try it sometime.

So we are still waiting to hear what you have your lawyer working on in relation to this.

If it was during your lunch hour then for most folk your not actually employed by the company during this time as you don't get paid for your lunch hour... :)

On the other hand the company could argue that you were using their equipment for non company/work related use... :(

Either way if your daft enough to let them sack you for it without putting a fight then that's just tough luck, whether your in a union or not unfair dismissal can easily be fought but most folk for some odd reason seem to think that the company they work for can ride roughshod all over them and never actually stand up for themselves... sad really... :(

Company equipment and displayed in full view of other workers including management.  If he was in a union he would not have been fired immediately as he was, so its safe to say he is not in a union.  In the U.S. with at-will employment and especially with him being in NY he probably has no leg to stand on legally.  His only hope is internal protocol at the firm from a written HR procedure (assuming the company is large enough to have such).

Of course whats most likely is he just made all of that up about being fired in the first place.

Dang you're just too smart... :). I was using my own equipment.  This company has no rule on using the WiFi for personal use.  That being said inappropriate content mainly nudity, porn etc is a no no.

Still making up your story as you go?    Again what do you have your lawyer working on?

The OP should have put an understandable warning in subject or body.

He did, he wrote "be careful" in addition to +16.

Quote from: Beast96GT;622983
The world of the internets usually uses "NSFW", not "+16" --

Indeed, usually, not always.

Quote from: Beast96GT;622983

what the heck does that mean?

In context with "be careful" clearly it means its unlikely safe for work.  Better safe than sorry at work.

Quote from: Beast96GT;622983

Why not +15 or +17?

A good guess would be in the OP's country 16 is the age requirement for something with similar content.  An even better guess is it was an account created to troll.  lol

If you read the entire thread, you'd note that the "be careful" was edited in AFTER the original post.

Even if it WAS there, by your logic, "be careful" means a link has nudity in it?

So, "Short film be careful (+16) " equals NUDITY?  No way.

I think the moral of the story is for dudes, mates, and blokes, to please post a clear disclaimer about a link they post up here on AO.

Oh, and "be careful" around here...  :D

If you read the entire thread, you'd note that "link removed" is what was edited into the original post, not "be careful".  We know this because post 14 quoted the original post and "be careful" was clearly visible in the quote.

You should read more carefully.  I did not say be careful = nudity.  I said +16 be careful = likely NSFW.  And hence anyone with a brain should not click a link at work that is likely NSFW.  Also the page the link goes to says NSFW on it directly.  Don't click play then, duh.

I think the moral of the story is for dudes, mates, and blokes, to please don't click unknown links at work.  ;p

P.S.  The original post was against TOS (as per a mod), hence telling people that they can continue to post such type of content so long as they put a "clear disclaimer" is not advisble in general I would think.
