yup off IDE port..its a 40 pin DOM that I'm using a 44 to 40 convertor with...DOM is rated at 5V, 180mAH...the DOM has external power at top so not sure if it needs power from there?

Hi klx300r,

I'm pretty sure that you need to supply power to the external power inlet too. I use the 40 pin version in my A1XE and I'm intending to use a 40 pin version in my A1200 too.

I would imagine it just won't work if it doesn't get the ext. power. Please keep us posted

Fred

yup just confirmed that indeed is the case and it requires the +5V to work...I'll end up putting the 40 pin DOM in either my 1200T or X1000 as a backup drive as a I found a 44 pin 16GB DOM that doesn't require extwernal power to put into my 1200
