what BIOS is to the Amiga??
« on: April 02, 2006, 01:18:15 AM »
when i had my Gateway 1200 i remember rebooting it. there were a combination of keys you could hold down and it would take you into a BIOS (PC version) type screen. however, i cannot remember the key combo

1? - can someone tell me what the COMBO is

2? - does it work on this 500+ (ripped apart and MOBO on table) computer (KS2.0)

thanks, 324

If you mean Early Startup Menu hold down left mouse button whilst reseting the A500+

2.05 is a special ROM for the A600 that gives PCMCIA commands and IDE in later versions

Here is the A500 3.1 kickstart ROM

thanks AKit - but its no good to me. i am just using this 500+ until i get my 1200 3.0 delivered. once i do though and once i am back from amsterdam i will be getting (probo):

- 3.1 ROM
- (i think the 68020 proc should be ok for now - it runs OS3.5 / 3.9 RIGHT?)
- CD-RW (DVD-RW will also work for CDs for amiga??)
- MAYBE upgrade in memory - only if required though!

A1200 has kickstart 3.x so it both mouse buttons whilst resetting.

Both 2.x and 3.x require that you hold both buttons down.

This runs anything upto WB 2.1.

@3246251196

It will boot, but some things just outright refuse to work, or crash.

yeah i see it now Piru:

for instance, i tried to open "SAY" and it simply didnt open.

anyone know where i can get a list of AmigaShell commands?

i prefer working in a commandprompted environemt. i know a lot of DOS but AmigaShell is obviously different!
