Washington/Baltimore Group
« on: August 28, 2013, 07:42:21 PM »
:elvis:New group starting up in the DC/Balto area. I am starting a user group for all Amigas. If you want to join in on the fun then we need to talk. I have two others from Amiga.org that want in on the fun. we need more users so think up agendas that we can discuss and show and tell. I am thinking that we would rotate the meeting place and meet every other month. This is all my idea so any input will help a lot. I will host the first meeting at my place in Frederick MD (located between the two cities) I will be showing my A2000 with toasters during the first meeting. The topic of the first meeting is show and tell, setting up future agendas and just meet and greet. I have a DCTV to give away for a raffle. So lets get the party started. Dates to be posted soon on this thread.:elvis:

Send PM to me for contact info, and I think giving stuff away is a great idea to spark interested people to go. I also need a 1084 if you have a few, I have a lot of stuff to trade.

OK what dates do we want the first meet? I think a week day would be best, two people have said Tuesday or Thursdays. I am proposing Sept 17 2013. It is a Tuesday say about 7pm to 10 I will demo my toasters and we will be setting the agenda for the next meeting. I will be giving away DCTV during this meeting.

OK sounds like we are getting more people interested. The date is 17 Sept 2013 in Middletown, Maryland. Oldsmobile Mike, I will take both of those monitors; I will give you a DVTV for them, still have the raffle one to give away too. All other please PM me with how to call you to get included. I will call everybody next week some time. Think of things for an agenda guys. I will be showing off my toasters and if Mike gives me a 1084 that works, we can build a toaster; I have several. Glad everybody is joining, take care and hope to hear from you soon.:laugh1:

OK, things are happening; I have talked to a few already. If you want to join the group, I need your phone number and I will get in touch. Some of you have received an e mail from me with the wrong contact numbers, just disregard that; I cut and pasted the letters and forgot to change the phone numbers. My number is right on the e mail and feel free to call with questions. We have 4 confirmed that are coming, but if anybody else wants to join - the more the merrier.  Everybody I have talked to is very excited about meeting people from Amiga.org and just doing something with the Amiga computers we have.

Also yes to all the question posted in here yes make a google group, maybe do it at the meeting, some of us do not know what a google group is. Also cross post to attract more members, I just ask that they contact me to join (Because the meeting is at my house I want to screen first)

Today is the big day, I have the fire trucks parked out side with the Amiga flag flying, The Air force said they could only have the Blue Angels for the opening flyby. But who needs all that anyway so I canceled that and just sat out some corn chips and cheap soda.:hammer:

I have my Amiga stuff in one room and waiting to show it off tonight and to talk Amiga nerd stuff ( My wife's words)

I plan on at least 5 people showing tonight, I am very much excited to meet and greet with every one. I hope I remember to take photo so we can post our big first meeting of the (not yet named group).

Great time last night at the first Amiga Balto/DC Group meeting. We need a name. I was concerned about it not working, but we played till past midnight. I had fun dragging out my toys to show some one who enjoyed looking at them. Nobody I know would get all excited about some long circuit cards. We tried to get both of my Toaster to work. The first one would not boot the HD, and the second one would not show preview video out for some reason.

Here are some of the photos taken last night, should have taken more, but the next meeting if I am not the host I will take more. I am already thinking about the next meeting. Like I said it was a lot of fun, almost like stepping back in time.

So when is the next meeting? I can host again, maybe we can get a toaster working by then. PM me with some future dates to consider, most likely the meeting's are held Tuesdays or Thursdays.

I have never tried to post photos in here hope they post.

ok Guys the only date I can find using the Tuesday/Thursday rule is December 17 at my house. Please post here or PM me and let me know if you want to meet on this date. At the first meeting we agreed that the meetings should be close enough to keep interest and far enough apart to add more content. I see along of people have projects that they want to build or show off. So let me know about this date and get you stuff packed up ready to show and tell.

I have all my Amigas are down now so we will be working on them to get the toaster running again.

I have a table to set up in the living room, we can use the kitchen and maybe a table down stairs if enough people show. :python:

The 7th or the 17 are both ok to meet at my house. Pick a date and lets plan from that.
I have a guest Cammy , from Amiga.org Down under. I asked her to join us and she agreed I hope she can find a  web cam or join us on one of these dates.

Madshib you wanted to do a web cam meeting lets do this and record it. Madshib can you take the lead on this and show us how to save it also to share.one this meeting. How do we record everything to share here on Amiga.org..

Also I think We will have to deal with time difference.

Mike the A2000 is working it just will not see the other HD, but we can look at that at the meeting, I will set up the camera and things before hand.

OK I have rambled enough, Madshib what is your name, I know we have talked before, let me know your ideas and how we can look at your computer with Cammy looking from Australia. and get it fixed.

OK guys the big day is a coming, I think we have about 5 guys committed to showing up. I have wrote some and asked them to prepare a demo of what they have. I hope to Demo WinUAE and how to load programs. I hope to have a working toaster set up and play with that again. Anybody have something they are having trouble with bring it to the meeting, I think for one night we may have the largest brain trust of Amiga stuff in one location in the world.

If I have not gotten in touch with you please PM me that you wish to attend, it is my home so I just want to know who is coming. I am so glad you are coming.

Also we are going to try to web cast this thing to share with our Amiga friends around the world. SO if you wish to join in on the 17 get your G mail account now as this is the format that we will be using for the group web cast.

Once again thank you for supporting my little dream of a Amiga group, everybody has been so supportive.
