And what's that HUGE ATI chip on the board exactly?

Ya, my bets are that we'll see MorphOS and AROS on it before OS4.

On the other hand I've never had a chance to touch OS4 and I don't think anyone in Tucson even owns an Amiga, let alone a MorphOS compatable machine, so who knows...

...maybe MorphOS is good enough that I don't need OS4. Maybe I'll find out if I get a Efika and MorphOS comes out with there update as promised.

I can vouch that MorphOS is good enough to use and not wish you had OS4 instead. I have no plans to ever get an OS4 system so long as they are priced the way they were the last time you could get one.

MorphOS does everything it can do, and I would say just as well if not better in areas too.

Who made this new board? Is it another Chinese company that someone licensed to have boards made from a design, then plan to call it something else and charge 10X the price for?

Hey all,
Well, you do have to give credit where credit is due. These guys have at least been pretty active this whole month on the board and keeping us all updated as well. I wouldn't be surprised if sometime soon we see which OS's will be compatible with this. Considering how long we've all waited for anything new for the "Amiga", motherboard or any other hardware wise, I'd say we've all got something to look forward to getting real soon. As for Genesi and their Efika; I've contacted Bill and Raquel on when their system would have been released, with the next Morp OS. I was told sometime in March. Well, there's still no update on their website, nor did I get an e-mail giving me a heads-up on when it might come out. I'm not complaining though, because both are pretty nice people to me and most likely they have been pretty busy with their business, so I'l be patient and wait. Either way, * ACill, I believe even if we have multiple systems to use for Amiga, that's a good thing. Support both if you can; the potential each might show is worth looking at. The only way we'll get Amiga support back is if we suppurt them. That's just my 2 cents though. Thanks.

No, it's an Italian company called ACube (hint: link in first post). The design is loosely based on the Yosemite board of AMCC. Don't confuse ACube with Troika, they play in different leagues. Well, I think Troika is dead anyway, so it doesn't really matter anymore.

Obviously, Hyperion OS4 is *not* one of them.

@Acill

The products is Italian and these guys are working hard on it and spending a lot of money and time. But hey, you claim MOS is better than OS4, do you really care? No, so stop your propaganda.

The porting of a number of Operating Systems has already begun.

How do we know that more than one Amiga-like Operating System won't be ported to it?

There hasn't been _any_ mention of _any_ Amiga or Amiga-like OS on their website in conjunction with Samantha. All that we can assume from the tests that have been published is that it runs Linux.

We can assume it runs Linux only because that is the most financially viable option.  In an IRC interview on AmigaWorld.net there was a mention of wanting as many operating systems as possible running on it.

Why not? Does anyone else have any clue?

If you have any facts to contribute, feel free to do so. Otherwise "don't speak as you know things, you really don't have a clue about".

Pot, kettle.

As far as I can tell your propaganda moves haven't met with much success on other sites lately, either.

Thats great news !
They did say that they would make some announcements, and I seem to remember something about 'before the end of March'. Just in the nick then !
oh - and it only says 'initial run reserved for industrial partners'. read the words
