Has anybody played Silent Hunter III? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Hunter_III)
I'm curious about any personal opinions on the game.

i was tempted to get it but seeing how i sucked at hunt for red october and 688 sub i decided to skip it. i have never been good at sims.
-
Hum,
i have silent hunter for the amiga.
Not really a griping game. And the action is all very similar.
One for the collection but not worth writing home about.

:o
Silent Hunter I was released for the miggy?
Hmm...not on Hall of Light nor Lemon.
Are you sure you don't mean Silent Service 1/2 or Wolfpack (<- brilliant Novalogic sim that)?.
I bought Silent Hunter III the other day and so far I've been very impressed by the game. It's engrossing and the satisfaction of going hunting for a faint hydrophone contact and finally sinking it is enormous.

Hum,
Ahh, Silent Service
Been years since i played it last...
Oh well, strike my last post from the records.

I used to be a simulation junkie. I couldn't get enough, I had almost all of them on the C64 and quite a few on Amiga. I still reckon one of the most enjoyable submarine games was Red Storm Rising on the C64. That was purely enjoyable from a tactical point of view.
I had to battle to get it down in SA, mind you. We were unfortunate in that it was difficult to get a nice selection of games, and when games did come in, the platform and side-shooters were more in demand than the simulations.
One of the nicest things about that era was that (speaking for myself) I didn't know anything about the technology or the programming of graphics behind the game. This made it much more believable to me, gave it a certain mystique.
I miss that.
Sigh...

I know that feeling :-) , last time I felt that again was when I played Delta Force.
