Virus trouble on PC
« on: May 07, 2004, 04:25:16 AM »
I am working on a machine that apparently has some
sort of trojan or worm.  Iexplore continues to load
until it fills all available memory which usually
locks the computer up.  They are no additional
browser windows open, just iexplore listed in the
task manager "x" number of times.  This process starts
almost immediately after windows loads.  The computer
is running W98SE with IE6.  I am sure that the IE6
does not have the latest patches installed.  I have
tried every "free" virus scanner plus PC-cillin 2000
(with latest updates) with no luck.  Any help and
recommendations on a good virus program would be helpful.

Thanks

C Snyder

Try the cleaner, from Here!

Oh, and IE6 is not the best IE for Win98 - causes issues.

Try reverting to IE5.5 if possible, or even better, Mozilla :-)

Yes, AVG is a good Virus remover, but use it with the Cleaner as it's a dedicated Trojan removal tool.

Always worked well for me.
