This is local to me which is very rare for amiga items. I was strangely tempted to start bidding on it. Not the way I ever thought I would buy a 4000T though. For now I've just been watching the auction.

I'm having a really hard time figuring out what's going on on that motherboard from the pictures.  Looks like if you breathe on it wrong it'll fall apart though; nice system, I hope he packs it well!  :laugh1:

On closer inspection I think it's a early 4000T (not the green one) built into a case!

It was built from a blank mainboard. I read the forum he linked in the auction. It seems a batch of empty boards got released and a few people built machines out of them. Its a really neat site.

This was just another a1k.org project like the GBA1000, so nothing really superspecial bout this one.

Oh come on, its a populated A4000T board put together by a user. I would love to get the parts together for something like this.

Sure, but your 1st post suggested that it was some sort of oneof board, while it's only one in many.

Did think about buying such a set back than, but just like the GBA it goes far beyond my skill set.

Unlikely, as with all models of Amiga the 4000 and 4000T are no longer in production and very few 4000Towers were ever made compared to other models thats why when they do pop up they sell for as much as they did new.

How many unpopulated A4000T motherboards you think there are floating around?  Or entire replacement chipsets, for that matter?

How do you just lose something like that? If it were me, I'd say look in the fridge, behind the milk. That's where I usually find my car keys.

Oh, I've moved something like 4 times in the last 3 years. Makes it hard to keep track of stuff.

I can get behind that.
I have boxes from previous moves.
Opening them is like an archaeology dig.

Last time I went through them I found a Coldfire evaluation board and a VIA based mini itx motherboard.

Which Navy where you in, I would assume the American Navy, but these days no one could really tell. I have membership, on the America, Nimitz, and Independence. Didn't know old retired Navy Chiefs knew how to write much less use a computer.

I got one A4000 motherboard that don't work and two 3000 mother boards that don't work. So you see there are still some floating around.

Sadly only one of those three is around anymore.  :(

Edit - This picture look familiar?  That was in 2010, at NISMF Bremerton.  :)
