Problem with new icon set
Problem with new icon set

Description: Here the difference between the original icon that came with Colonization (from install option) and the newicon (from WHDLoad) can be seen. Is this normal? Or this is just my system!?

I have an A500+ with with 2Mb ChipRAM and 8Mb FastRAM, which is connected to a 1084S (D1) monitor. My processor is only the original 68000 however! I am giving these specifications because at the end of the day I want to move my set-up on the original hardware :)

However I still can't understand how to push the 16 colour limit! :(

4 and 16 refer to the number of colours not the bit depth. The graininess of the icons is probably due to your Workbench still only having 16 colours and also possibly due to the resolution not being high enough. Depending on how much RAM you have, you may not want to increase these any further.

Thank you for that suggestion. The value was set at 4 (I guess that means 4-bit colour mode?). I moved the leaver up to 16. The icons now look as on Amiga Workbench classic and therefore I am pretty satisfied.

However the icons still look a little bit pixilated (maybe I upload another image).

I am not saying that to complain. I know an A500+ has its limits. I just can't figure out what these limits are ...

Thanks again, and sorry for the delay. I was not home for Easter!

How many colours on your Workbench?

(Go to the System3.1:Prefs drawer and run ScreenMode to check)

Nonsense. OS3.9 is pretty much WB3.1, it just has lots of extra software.

With the right software from Aminet (and/or other sources) you can make your WB3.1 look even better than 3.9 (which isn't all that good in it's basic form anyway - IMHO)...

In other words, good quality new icons can only be achieved on OS3.9 ... there is no way to have such good quality on OS3.1! or?

Have a look at my 0S3.9 workbench grabs for how WHDLOAD icons should look.
