@mdma:

Bloody hell! A whole thread dedicated to us!
Cheers n' that! :pint:

We're still tweeking the songs but thank you very much for taking the
time to listen.

We should have some more songs up there over the next few weeks too.

And "very '89" is possibly the best compliment you could give me. ;-)

@Karlos:

Aye, I'm thinking of changing the name of it.

On the other hand, the lyric is actually about someone on this 'ere
website taking something the wrong way so maybe it's a good sign that
you misread it. :-D

I should also point out that my A1200, A1 and Pegasos were all
involved in the writing and recording of these songs, although final
mixes were done on a dedicated 16 track recorder.

again, thanks for listening - much appreciated.

What about '91? ;-)

Actually, '90 would probably be my favourite, although Strings of Life came out in '87. :-D

PS - I just uploaded tweeked versions of Euphonia & Out of Sight. Should be available for download anytime now....

@PMC:

Thank you, although I should point out that mdma is making it appear
far better than it is.
(Not that I'm complaining. :-D)

There's a bit of a problem with the upload of two tracks just now so
only two up there at the moment.

I'll let you know when it's resolved.

Finally had to delete the two tracks and upload them again but it's
fixed now.

Enjoy!
(or wonder "why am I listening to this pish?" ;-))

BTW, anyone seen Chris lately?
I'd like to hear his opinion.

Oh, and Wain?

@Turambar:

Smashing Pumpkins, eh? :-D
(never really liked them personally but then, I never really listened
to them...)

Euphonia would probably have gone down well at Chakra, the sadly
demised Soundhaus night. Out of sight - probably not, although I did
play quite a lot of guitar based records when I played there, so you
never know. Probably wouldn't have had the bottle to try it.

I did once play another of our tracks at Chakra. It was an
instrumental track of a fairly housey nature and the dance floor liked
it, which was one of the best feelings I've ever had whilst DJ-ing.
Kind of a, "Check all these mad punters going nuts for my tune!" type
thing. :-D

I haven't been to the Art School for about two years so am completely
out of the loop about what's on there.
They did used to run a stonikngly good hip-hop night on a Thursday but
that was even further back.

Anyway, thanks very much for listening and letting me know.
'Tis truly appreciated.

Cheers. :pint:

@Turambar:

I'll need to check out that track.
One thing that may or may not have made a difference is that the
vocals on Demons & Shining Star are by my mate Boxer, who is the best
singer in the band by a country mile.

Chakra ended for a combination of reasons but it was *probably* for
the best. It had been going for over four years and basically ran it's
course. Very few clubs last even that long.

I still absolutely loved it but some of the regulars were beiginning
to get a wee bit bored with it. On top of that it was very stressfull
for Carole, who pretty much organised it, and I think she'd had
enough.

What type of thing do you like to dance to when you're out?
We have a new night starting in March and I like to play quite a
range of stuff, provided I'm given that freedom.(Not always the case.)
You never know, might be something there for you.
;-)

-EDIT-
Just noticed your sig. - I played that at Chakra one night. Great
laugh.

Thank you, Bloodline. I quite like it myself (my dodgy vocal
notwithstanding... :-D )

Hi Bloodline,

Sorry for the late reply. I'm not long back from a stonkingly good
snowboarding holiday in Bulgaria and this is my first log in to the
org since.

Thanks very much for the vocal compliments.

We start recording again tonight after my winter-sports fuelled
absence. :pint:

I've also just found out it'll cost around 250 euro to repair my A1.

Mac-mini is looking very attractive right now.

Newe version of "Out of Sight" up.
Electric guitar replaced by acoustic and reworked drums and bass.

I'll be adding another song or two over the next few days.

We've also registered

and redirected it to myspace.

New track: The Sheikh, pays homage to the supposed "Voyant", currently peddling his rather dubious wares around the South side of Glasgow.

@Bloodline:

That's a very cool song on your site. Any reason why it's not available for download?

That you singing?

Think I might also (cash permitting) be pestering you for Logic advice in the not too distant future.

Cheers, The record company were reluctant to let me even show the track...

Ah, I see. I didn't realise you were signed. What label and, if it's not too nosey, how did they hear about you?

Quote
I actually wanted to show one of the other tracks, but none of them have had a final mix or been mastered yet... but "Myself" is pretty close, so they agreed as long as it was for listening only... so no downloads yet...

Ah well - very nice stuff anyway. :pint:

Not the main vocal.

Reminds me a bit of Damon Albarn.

I'll be happy to help any way I can (not just Logic advice ;-) )! [/quote]

Thank you.

You'll find with Logic, that it becomes much easier to get a clean crisp sound... far better than the expensive, non portable Protools system we were using...

A good Logic setup doesn't come cheap though :-(

£1800 - For a 2Ghz MacBook Pro (With 2gig RAM).
£699  - For Logic Pro 7.2
£360  - For an Edirol FA-101 Half-Rack Firewire Audio interface

£2860 - Grand total!!

And then you need a decent set of mics...throw another £2000 on the fire :-o

Then the more adventurous can get a control surface (assuming your Midi keyboard doesn't have one built in)... anther £800...

OK - we're a bit away from that yet.
Would I be able to do much with the following?:
1.33Ghz iBook (512meg RAM) - already have
Logic Express - can get for £170
M-Audio midi/audio interface. can get for ~£80.
-EDIT-
We also have one decent condenser mic. already.

Oh, and send my appologies to Potsy

Hehehe.. no worries.

Cheers Matt! :pint:

Cheers for the advice.
I'm a tad skinty-poo just now but I'll be scoring LE as soon as cash allows.
Is it really that big a difference between USB & FW?
