Workbench.library
« on: October 01, 2021, 02:46:53 AM »
I have an A600 with a Kick Start 3.X and it loads Workbench.Library during boot from the hard drive.
This makes upgrading fairly easy.

If I had put a Kick Start 3.1 in my A600, which has Workbench.Library in r.o.m, is OS 3.1 modular enough to point to a new Workbench.Library during boot?
I think the answer is Yes.

It looks like this can be done with most of the O.S. components.

It won't pick it up automatically, i.e., you can't just drop workbench.library into Libs: and have 3.1 use it with no further action on your part. But LoadModule will do the job if you add it to your startup-sequence.

Thanks, that is along the lines of what I was thinking.
Modular-ity is a good thing to me.

Yes, one of the Amiga's continuing strengths. :)
