Can I use OS 3.2 SCSI.device in Shapeshifter
« on: April 03, 2022, 08:59:54 PM »
I've been using Shapeshifter for the first time since I upgraded to OS 3.2. I realised it was still using IDEFix/Atapi.device but I now use Atapimagic. However when I updated the Prefs SS is looking for a file called scsi.device which is now in the ROM, so it fails to find it. Is it possible to use the built in SCSI.device (and therefore CD ROM) with SS?
Thanks.

Been a while since I had a stable ShapeShifter environment, but it should absolutely be able to use devices in ROM. In the past I've used scsi.device, cybppc.device, 1230scsi.device, gvpscsi.device - all ROM-based. I can't remember the specific config process, but try going in and re-entering all the device names manually instead of using the file requester. If you're really stuck, reset the prefs to default (keep a backup, of course) and start from scratch to make sure all the DEVS:atapi.device/DEVS:scsi.device  references are fully cleared out.

Thank you, this now works. Clearing up the Prefs has had a noticeable effect on speeding up the initial boot too.
