Floppy emulator mk2: emulating TR-DOS disk
Floppy emulator mk2: emulating TR-DOS disk
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: This is not quite Amiga disk format, but it's the only sharp photo in a set I have managed to take.
TR-DOS is a disk OS for ZX Spectrum floppy interface called Beta128. It has been - and still is - the only available and thus popular in Russia.

Dear tnt23,

great work, your floppy emulation project is most promising and - as my Amiga floppy drives are dying one by one - I desperately need this one. Are you shipping them officially by now? If so, what's the price tag?

Thank you!
Regards,
Joe

A few words on Beta disk interface from Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta_Disk_Interface

You'd better check http://zx.pk.ru, the ultimate Russian resource on ZX Spectrum and related topics (in Russian).

Do you have any more info on the Beta128 for the ZX Spektrum? Do you know where I can get one?

IDE/CompactFlash connector is for using another ADF storage along with SD/MMC card. The whole thing then looks like this: http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=1921=5
When both are attached, you have a choice of two flash drives, 0 and 1, in emulator's File Browser menu.
As the IDE/CompactFlash bus is driven in software, it is quite possible to attach other equipment to this connector. The oddest idea so far is to control a real external FDD through it, to create real floppies out of ADFs.

Looking great - may I ask what is the IDE/Compact Flash connector for? Could this be used instead of a HDD - or is it the other way round i.e. for connecting a HDD in place of a SD card?
