Radeon 8500 and AmigaOne
« on: December 29, 2002, 08:33:28 PM »
Hi All,

Has anyone been able to get their AmigaOne working with the radeon 8500le agp graphics card?

I have got as far as running sax2 when all i get is a black screen.  :-?

I have tried changing the aliasfb0 options  via modules.conf to all the options available with no luck.

Thanks in advance.

Keith

You might want to ask on the AmigaOne mailing list... I'd have thought there would be more people with an AmigaOne there.

Still, at least you didn't ask on ANN... then we'd have a "Radion doesn't work on A1" flame-fest ;-)

I have but I thought i'd edge my bets and hopefully get this sorted quickly, otherwise our lass is going to kill me :-) as trying to explain my excitement at receiving a new amiga was met with a 'are you insane?' type look

I told my fiance that the AmigaOne XE  was "just a couple of hundred bucks..."

Technically speaking, I'm not lying as I really meant to say "several hundred bucks"... it just came out wrong ;-)

Plus, if she knew the truth then she'd kill me :-)

@Darrin, Munch

I've just fitted my A1 board into the tower. I took my time - an hour. didn't want to rush this one.

Our lass' response "an hour just to fit the board?"

Wait till I fit the drives and then Install Linux for the first time - she'll be really bored then  :-D

I can beat that ....

About five years ago (When I first built my x86 N.L.E system.  I sneakily purchased a Non linear Editing card which cost a whopping.......................

£1100 ... just for 1 Card.......

I told the missus I bought it off my brother for £15 !!    :-o

I know the question your all thinking ... How'd the hell she not miss £1100.   Well ...............

As a truck driver... the company I used to work for only used light weight pallets for their product,  which I had to return to them ( I went to the same places) BUT... If there was any Heavy weight pallets then they were no use to them and I was allowed to flog em !!

There used to be a good number of those per week.  It was a great little "perk" until the company floated on the stock market ... Then management had to perpetually show a profit to shareholders,  eventually stuffing everything up ...As is the general rule for "Floated" companies.

At least for the Radeon7000 problems are know.
Maybe it's the same. Try to change the screenmode
to 1024*768 in 8bit

Yes.. She found out about 3 years ago when I inadvertantly let it slip.. (Must get round to insulating that doghouse).

ITs quite ironic cos after all that gbh of my earhole,  she now does the editing !!   :-o

That wasn't the first time though !!

Previously,  I ordered a Vidi-Amiga 24rt,  Which was about £120.. I told the missus that it was the lower model (as you do).  When it came, they had forgotten to include the psu.  In my temper I waved Amiga shopper about saying (cussing) "it effing well sez the psu is included".

At that, Susan grabbed the mag out of my hand and said  "Let me look"   :-o

No,  It didn't take her long to spot the real price... about as long as it took for her shoe to disappear up my arse!!

Doh!    :-o
