Best Amiga "Monitor" going!
« on: April 12, 2005, 04:44:32 PM »
I made a very nice purchase on saturday afternoon.

Goodmans LD1501 15" LCD TV

I takes a PAL signal, AND a 15pin VGA signal.

My A1200 runs perfectly with it.  It displays all the different PAL modes I've thrown at it, and also works perfectly with the Voodoo 5500 PCI card shoved in my Mediator bus board.

Who the hell needs a scandoubler eh? ;-)

I've got the following all connected up to this little beauty all at the same time.

Nintendo Gamecube (SCART)
DVD Player/VCR (Phono connections for L+R Audio and Video)
A1200 (Phono Video output and onboard Audio)
A1200 Voodoo PCI (VGA socket)
UHF TV Aerial (Coaxial socket)

and there is room for more inputs too!

Cost me £229. :-D

That looks like quite a deal you got there. Was there any flicker using PAL Superhires Interlace? I've been hunting for a scandoubler for some time, but it looks like this could be a far better alternative.

It flickers on PAL:1280x512 but Voodoo:1280x768 is rock solid.

That could be a nice replacement for my 1942 / Microvitec monitors. The specs say 1280x768 and I wonder how is the AGA resolution are displayed. Are they stretched by the monitor or can you switch that of on the monitor so that e.g. 640x480 is displayed as part of the screen ?

A pitty that is it NTSC.

Lower resolutions are stretched to fit the screen.  It doesn't look bad at all though.

The screen is a PAL TV, but can display NTSC no problem.

Yeah, I just switch between AV2 input and PC input using the remote.

cool stuff...

I have been doing the same with my Samsung 17'' TFT-TV for a couple of months now...really good monitor...12ms response (no ghosting) and has vga-15, scart, rca video and audio in plus s-video...it aldo looks cool

Samsung 17'' LCD-TV at Komplett

bought from Komplett.co.uk ... was also £4 cheaper than the aforementioned Goodmans screen...it's always worth shopping around when shopping for LCDs...internet store like www.ebuyer.com, www.dabs.co.uk and komplett do really good deals...

...my miggy got a new lease of life

Why didn't you post on here when you bought it?  Or did you and I missed it.

Mine may develop a "fault" tommorow, and have to go back to the shop for a refund! :-D

I'll guess most TFT's with SVHS, FBas or antenne will work.

Now we have to choose the best one !

How can a TFT flicker  :-? In opposition to a CRT there is the full picture visible on screen at any given time.
So how can it flicker ? Really I'm just corious as it should be technically impossible.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

If it doesn't buffer the interlaced frames, or if the analog signal's timing isn't perfectly clean, I can imagine there's a pretty good reason for this.
