Northwest Amiga Group calls it quits.
« on: January 17, 2006, 12:14:42 AM »
After twenty long years as the oldest Amiga User Group, and just a few short months after our anniversary, Northwest Amiga Group has decided to disband.

Northwest Amiga Group was founded by Bill Seymour (and a couple other nice folks) in June 1985. "NAG" was established and registered as "Commodore User Group #00001" by Commodore in 1986.

We are all saddened by this event, but lack of user support and lack of official Amiga product development over the past ten years has brought us to the point we can no longer sustain ourselves as a User Group.

We thank everyone for their long support, and our websites will be active fro several more years to everyone. The past few years of our World renowned Northwest Amiga Journal has been digitized and is avaible to the public, including many past issues dating back to 1988. Please visit and download them in PDF and other formats at:
http://journal.nwamiga.com

All my best to our supporters over the years, and all the many people I now consider good friends via past Amiga events.

Todd Gustafson, past NAG President, Treasurer, Website Administrator

Todd, et al.

Please allow me to extend both my thanks for your herculean longevity with the user group efforts (and newsletter) as well as my condolences for its' closure.

In the days of the Internet, with information being so readily available, it is getting harder and harder for user groups of any kind to exist, and that's an incredibly sad thing, as we just don't get the same quality of sharing online.

I wish you, and all the members of the nwamiga group the best in the future.  Hopefully, you'll still be around in some form or another for a while?

Wayne

@Tomas,  "Sad", that is what I would call a huge understatement.  If I were to use just one word, I would choose "Tragic".

 :boohoo:
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

This is realy sad.

I can't help but thinking it might be one of those cases where once you've been big it's hard to become small again?

Hoya!

Erk!

Although I have never been part of this group, I know it is part of the Amiga lore.

Keep the memory alive!

What have i missed?? The future seems to me more grim than it have been in years. The amiga community is shrinking, there is barely any software developement going on and we have no hardware to buy.

I've been saying that OS4 is taking too long.  I think it should have been released about 3 years ago.  *IF* they ever finish it, I think there may just be no hardware at all for it and it just be useless.  I definately think they were too concerned about it having enough features and could have been released as 4.0 and then 4.1 released after some sales are made.  If the pre-releases are usable they could have been real releases and just have updates to add the missing features and fix bugs.  Especially in todays market, time means everything.  I really am loosing hope for Amiga, but hope I am surprised some day!!

Thanks,

Neofree

Definately a shame. But hey, you guys outlasted me! Definately to be commended! :-)
