Will therse cards work on an A1200 with Zorro II bus board ?
-
Will therse cards work on an A1200 with Zorro II bus board ?
The Flyer is a Zorro II card and works in that slot. The Video Toaster 4000 requires a video slot. The Flyer needs a Video Toaster to work. People have used both cards in Amiga 1200s that have been upgraded to have the proper slots.
-
Did expansion for video slots on the 1200 existed?. I never hear of that, but if it were, then it's nice to have a 1200 expanded that way.

I know the old Canadian Amiga company Randomzie? sold A1200 toaster towers. I can't remember which busboard had video slots though....
-
I have a few questions.
I have a Mediator in my A4000, can I still put in the Video Toaster?
The description states that you need an RGB Monitor (I have a VGA output through an Indivision AGA and/or a DVI output through a Radeon card) and the Toaster requires video signals with correct timings, is this going to work on this set up?
If so, I'm seriously considering buying one. Always wanted a Video Toaster, and now that I'm quite happy with my Amiga 4000 Setup, I've been looking at some more hardware to run. I don't have an accelerator yet though (gee, I wonder why? I'd have to get rid of my harem to afford one!) But I do have the 040 version of the A4000, so should be Okay there.
Sweet Promo.

The Zorro IV "Winner" board tower expansion for the A1200 had one video slot. You had to buy an extra cable to activate it though...
Here's the BBOAH breakdown for it:
http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=1379 (http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=1379)
I had that, the video cable and the mediator add-on:
http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=1378 (http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=1378)
IT WAS A BEAST!!!!
And for the life of me I can't remember what happened to it...

Yes they did exist, in the late 1990's when it became illegal for A4000Ts to be manufactured NewTek bundled Amiga 1200s with a certain busboard in a tower with the Amiga Video Toaster 4000 & Flyer card. The name of the busboard that was used escapes me though.

Here are some videos that show what an Amiga Video Toaster 4000 & Flyer can do.

Are the Toaster Flyer boards NEW with Flyer board software and manual?
The Flyer board is the last piece of my Toaster system that I need!
"Many old rusty 1984 Commodore 64's were slaughtered with extreme violence"
Right On!
-
@gizmo350
The Flyer has not been manufactured new since the late 1990's. Our Flyers are limited stock tested used cards with a 30 day warranty from us and a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer.
The manual is available from the link below, the software is open source or can be purchased from NewTek in compiled form.

@slaapliedje
The Amiga Video Toaster 4000 may or may not work with your flicker fixer. If you buy it and it does not work send it back for a full refund to us. We have not tested it on your configuration so don't know if it works or not. Chances are it will work.
-
Sweet! Just ordered one, will be letting everyone know how it works with the Indivision AGA flicker fixer.

Micronik? That's what I have, a towerized A1200 with ZIII.. but I need to find the video slot add on..

@ JJ
Have tried E-mailing Elbox? I know they don't have the cable listed on their website, but they are the ones who made it so they may still have a few laying around... Best of LUCK!!!

The Video Toaster 4000 will run great with an 040. You wont really need faster cpu unless you are doing heavy 3d render. Please let us know about the Indivision if it works or not, I have not had any report on that one.

Make sure the seller is legit, and didn't copy bits from
other old ads out of google cache, scanned mags etc
to look like some old Amiga master.
21 transactions? Easy for a few scam friends to buy from each other,
give each other great feedback, then rip off the unwary.
Cheers

Umm the feedback looks flawless on the seller..

On close inspection, yes it does. But you can't blame him for being a bit cautious when the account is only a month old.
I think ciento was just putting out caution as many of us have been bit by the illegitimate seller on E-bay in the past.:(
You know, just trying to keep friends from getting hurt. ;)

@spihunter @jgolden @pyromania
Thanks for the answers!. Didn't know that it existed!
As j-golden said, a 1200 with mediator and such expansion is an authentic beast!!!. Only if i had the money...:D

At the request of customers we have added one more discounted bundle for Amiga fans that already own a Video Toaster.
http://www.discreetfx.com/amigaproducts.html
Aladdin 4D 5.x / Millennium Bundle
Please don't forget the offers end with Extreme Prejudice on Friday June 24th, 2011!. So order soon if interested or forget about it!
-
I have to say for a toaster newbie that the Millenium package has a lot to offer. Aladdin not so useful as you already have Lightwave which is superior, but its a nice app.

Although some people think Aladdin is more fun. AND it is still being developed for the Amiga :)
Just ordered my Toast for Tuesdays! I like my toast on Friday.
-
Just ordered my Toaster Flyer board bundle... time for a brewski!
Mmm, Good Toast
BTW, does it come with the ribbon cable that is required?

-
Yippee, got my Flyer board today! Have no clue how to use yet.
BAD NEWS... NO RIBBON CABLE IN THE BOX! :(
I guess I'll PM Transition.....
Also, do I need specific Flyer card software?
My BADA$$ A2000HD Toaster system is almost complete especially with it's Blizzard Accelerator!
One other note... I ordered a Sunrize AD516 sound card w/software and manual (looked cool on ebay), how will it help me with my toaster system?
Can't wait to start BURNING TOAST!
Rog..........

@gizmo350
Sounds like we owe you a ribbon cable. Software is open source.
http://www.openvideotoaster.org
Or if you want it in a complied version NewTek has the CD-ROM available inexpensively. Sunrize card can help you make audio clips for the Flyer. Flyer has a built in DSP audio chip as well. Read all about your new Flyer card here.

OK, the compiled Flyer software is definetly the way to go! Can I just Paypall you the funds for the software and you can send out the ribbon cable with it? While I'm tossing $$$ around is there anything else cool that I would want? Anything else that would make Toasting even easier and more fun? Software / Hardware? Inexpensive essential goodies? I just want to connect my video cam and get going. Any recommended material to use as a green screen? Thanks soooo much Transition!

Video Toaster Fire and Smoke effects is a cool product and only $29.95. Sure we can find a CD-ROM of the Flyer software for you. We can send you a Paypal invoice if you like. Nice Green Screens cost around $100, we don't have any to sell. Flyer Mastery Guide is a great book for the Flyer, we have extras of those books too.

I have never used the VT software before, but I know Image FX can do green screen with ANY backdrop.
ANY = It takes a picture of whatever is in the frame and then compares it to your video. Whatever stays static (doesn't move) is used as the green screen and whatever moves is displayed!
Literally, you can use anything (as long as it doesn't move or change) as a backdrop! It doesn't have to be a solid color either. It could be a book shelf, a tagged inner-city street wall, ANYTHING!
And I just got IFX off of E-bay for $0.01 plus shipping...
Of course this would only be a fun program until you add it to your new toaster/flyer system (I'm gunna use it for game graphics). :)
-
Thanks for info J-Golden! ImageFX is way cool. Poking around on the web doesn't really come up with a way to aquire it though. Guess this is not a DiscreetFX product but from Nova Design. Their website is gone. Thought maybe I could still purchase from them. Probably been gone for a long time 'eh?

That is it, but here is a better one up on E-bay.

I say better because it:
- Has up to version 4.5 instead of 4.0
- starting bid is $5.00 not $9.99
- Shipping is reasonable ($8-something versus $16-something)
Happy bidding!

Arrrgggh! I received my Video Toaster today, got all excited for it, then realized... I have a Mediator (as said in my initial post) but it's a 4000Di, NOT the 4000D. The difference of course being that with the Di you can still use the Desktop case, and with the D you would have it sticking out the top. And of course more importantly, the Di doesn't have a Video slot, the bus board sits where the Video Slot is on the normal Daughter board.
This of course means that 1) I can't use the Video Toaster with either my Radeon (which I could live without the video output, but the memory that it provides is rather nice...) and 2) I'd have no network connectivity....
So unfortunately I'll have to send it back. Unless some kind sole wants to donate an A4000 to me, and/or one of the A4000D Mediators along with a Tower I could put it into..

Bumper, you have two options. You can return it for a full refund or we can cut you a deal on a A4000 Desktop. To help you out we will let one go for $299. The choice is up to you.

Dang it! I get too busy for a few weeks and miss out time on Amiga.org and miss a great sale! Hey Discreet will there be another one in the future? Actually when I get my A2000 up and running again I will finally be able to play with that Toaster. Amiga has to come first Flyer boards later (if the wife will let me) I went overboard years ago with the Amiga and nearly got divorce papers.
