Speed up OS 3.9
« on: April 06, 2010, 01:21:03 AM »
After recently installing OS 3.9 I am looking for ways to speed it up.

My current spec is Amiga 1200, with 68030 with FPU both running at 50mhz and 64mb of ram

I have Kickstart 3.1 rom and have the jumper set on the blizzard 68030 to load the kickstart into ram (I get the fuzzy coloured lines when I first switch on the Amiga 1200, so I assume that is working fine).

Now I remember reading a thread somewhere either here or on Amigaworld.net that had all the tips in it, etc but I can't find it now of course when I want it.

Should I install the Boing Bags first? and then go from there?

Thanks for your help

I recommend you install all BoingBags first.
The thread you were looking is this one http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=50414

Good luck

Thanks that was the one, I hate it when you find a useful thread, never think you need it, and then when you do need it, you can't find it.  Thanks again!

I'll install the boing bags and then try the few utilities out and see how it goes.  Thanks again!

AmigaSYS has many of those patches installed in it, and it works about 5x faster that a bog 3.9. Using it right now, and loving it :roflmao: And there is some patch, can't remember what, that really made a difference on my Mig, the internet browsing was very sluggish before that.

Good Luck with that patching!

edit: I think that the patch was blizkick, thanks Piru.

Do I need to use blizkick if I've got a Blizzard 1230 that copies the rom into Ram (I get the coloured lines when I start up my Amiga)?

It speeded up my system noticeably, so you should give it a go. :)
