Gotek USB and compatability
« on: February 03, 2016, 02:06:16 PM »
I've been playing around with the Gotek floppy emulator in my 500.   I've noticed some cracks just dont load.   Its a cool device and I havent tested more than 20 ADF's, but I'm hoping more stuff does work with it.  The weird "DF0:???" when loading Workbench does throw me off.  Hopefully that firmware bug is fixed also.

When I choose an ADF, I'm assuming that the Gotek is by default set as DF0: correct?  Just trying to see why some cracks dont work.

Which FW are you using?

The non-HXC firmware ("cortex") is abandoned for nearly 2 years now, so dont expect any fixes. It is somewhat buggy, but works ok for most cases.

As for DF0/1 - that is selectable via a jumper on the Gotek.

I dont know which FW..I bought this from amigakit and just got it.  Where do I check which it has?  It literally came with no manual so if there are pins or whatever that needs changing, I wouldnt know.

This is how the hxc file selector looks like. If you dont see that, you have the other firmware.

Since you managed to boot some games, I would assume the drive is configured as DF0.

Definitely don't have that FW.  When I power on I don't see any FW anyway.  Am I supposed to see it by default?

The video shows the hxc disk-image selector software which loads when you boot the Amiga with the Gotek on position "000".
Each firmware works with its own selector software.

I manually copied selector.adf to the USB stick to get it to boot.  Maybe I did something wrong.  I'll check tonight.
