Perhaps there is a Sun collectors organisation that you can post it to?

how did you come up with the idea of that being amiga anyway ? There's no mention of Amiga in the title or description. The name is A5100, not Amiga 5100. It's not even a fullfledge computer what I make of the specs. It's somekind of custom SCSI raid array with SUN software. Nothing to do with Amiga at all.

I will tell you something that will surprise even more.
The A1200 mobile phone is not an Amiga (nor AmigaOS based)  :-P

Looks like a fibre chanel hard drive array judging by the connectors in the back. Love the way they list the original 31K price. Also they can easily read the size of the drives to give you a toatal drive size. But I imagine each  drive is only 9 or 18 gig so they won't list the size.. Instead they list how much Nasa pid for it 12 years ago.

in other words it's junk. Get a big scsi drive and you'll do fine on an Amiga.

Ah, the Ming, one of the best phones Motorola made, it's hackable to get a terminal prompt and you can even ssh into a server if you want...

Great phone.

@A1260 shut up, im not a first poster I have been member since 2005 as you might see. I was tired after not sleeping for 36 hours straigt so my bad when reviewing it, posted without reading enough. Ive been a member 2 years longer then you.

I clearly just read the title with A5100 that makes me think of a amiga model then NASA computer. When tired I read to fast browsing for good amiga deals so dident notice the "sun array" tag, easy made misake.

No I do not have anything to do with it since I live in sweden I wouldent use a american ebay account. I was just tired and dident read propperly, at it seems now its just a heep of junk not worth wastinga  single penny on. Meh gotta sleep soon tho :P

Also dont judge someone by a mistake and call me a spammer or w/e, just check join date and search for previous post made by me and you would see that thats not the case.

@Fransexy_ Quite fun to see a phone with that modell name :) first cellphone ive seen with clearglass top :) quite smart when its a touch display.

The bloody thing is heavy too, 2 pounds short of a hundredweight.  And the Hard Drives hold about as much as a large SD card.  It's only 10 year old technology but sounds ancient..

Let's start with the auction title:

Sun Storage A5100 Array With Drives Nasa Computer Nice

Without going any further than that, it sounds like a disk array for Sun computers that had been owned by NASA.

From Sun's web site, it came in two configurations, 18gig and 32gig. It may be heaper just to go to your local PC superstore and buy a terabyte drive and PCI SATA card.

At http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/cluster/specs.xml it's listed as a fiberchannel unit. You might look into some similar SCSI units on this page, but it's probably still cheaper just to buy a huge hard drive and PCI card today.

Are there drivers for OS3.x with a PCI bridge for SATA?

This is indeed a fibre channel device that requires fibre channel discs and a machine that has fibre optic network connection, I have used and owned several A5200 arrays that are identical to this except they have an additional disc bank in the back to double the capacity fill these with 150 or 300 gig fc disks and you have one of the fastest and most fault resistant arrays its ever been my pleasure to use. No software is required as the array is completely controlled from the touch sensitive orange screen on the device itself.

I would rather have one of these than a sd card any day just not the power bills that go with it, that why the A5200 that's in my garage is powered down :(

Yes, but did I rant at you and call you anything bad without knowing anything about you?
No I did not.
